Germany's Under-21 captain and midfielder Lewis Holtby
has agreed a pre-contract agreement with Tottenham and will
join the club in July on a free transfer from Schalke 04.
The 22 year old has been a target for a number of clubs in
the Premier League and abroad and
Alex Ferguson is griping about Tottenham's signing of
Ezekiel Fryers, as he feels that Spurs have duped
Manchester United over his signing. Tottenham say that
the fee for the player in the summer would have been near £6
million, which they did not feel reflected value, so he left
to join Standard Liege for a smaller fee but with the
Belgian club's manager having been sacked and Fryers falling
out of contention for a place in the side, he grew homesick
and wanted to return to England, with Spurs agreeing a move

say that in line with the conditions of his move to

Tottenham completed the signing of Ezekiel Fryers
from Standard Liege today. The 19 year old left back
trained with Spurs in the summer after his contract expired
at Manchester United, but a deal could not be completed and
he moved to Belgium for a small transfer fee for "development"
costs payable as he moved to another country. Spurs have
bought him after seven first team appearances for Liege and
a fee of about £3 million is thought to be the price paid,
whereas it might have been in excess of £6 million if they
had signed him direct from United.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : - Spurs look set to have
Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Scott Parker back in
the team, which could feature a number of fringe players
getting important playing time in the first eleven.
Brad Friedel will most probably start the match, along
with either Clint Dempsey or Gylfi Sigurdsson,
with others who might get a game including Tom
Huddlestone, Tom Carroll and Yago Falque.
