JANUARY TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY.

TRANSFERS : -   Georges-Kevin Nkoudou has joined AS Monaco on loan until the end of the season with no option to buy at the end of the loan.  Kazaiah Sterling has joined Sunderland on loan until the end of the season, while Anthony Georgiou has been loaned to Spanish club Levante for the same period.

RUMOURS : -  Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is said to have been offered on loan to Tottenham, although the Pensioners wanted a loan fee of GBP8 million, while he had been offered to other clubs at GBP2 million until the end of the season.  Oh ... and he wanted GB P160,000 a week.

Ex-SPURS : - Striker Lee Angol has left Shrewsbury to join Lincoln City on loan, while central defender Calum Butcher had joined Dundee United.  Tom Carroll has joined Aston Villa on loan from Swansea City and Peter Crouch has joined Burnley from Stoke City on a permanent deal.

RUMOURS : -  Wolverhampton Wanderers are said to be interested in signing Spurs' forgotten striker Vincent Janssen, as are Burnley and Real Betis, while Tottenham are showing a late interest in bringing AS Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemens to Spurs but face interest from Leicester City and Arsenal.  Reports indicate that Tottenham will make a move to sign 22 year old Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler in the summer and the player believes he will have more opportunities to play at Spurs than Paris Saint Germain, who are also interested.  Hoffenheim and Borussia Moenchengladbach are interested in Spurs' 21 year old midfielder Josh Onomah.  17 year old Bolton Wanderers midfielder Luca Connell is being watched by Spurs, Southampton, Brighton & Hove Albion and Burnley.

FIRST TEAM : -  The team news ahead of tomorrow's game at Wembley against Watford gives Heung-Min Son and Moussa Sissoko late assessment to be included in the match-day squad.  Son perhaps more chance of starting, while Sissoko is over-coming a foot injury he picked up at Chelsea.  Ben Davies (groin), Harry Kane (ankle) and Dele Alli (hamstring) are all unavailable.  Click here for a preview of the match.

RUMOURS : - Spurs are reported to have been offered Udinese's 24 year old Argentine winger Rodrigo de Paul, but they have said they are looking for a player with different characteristics.  The club are linked with a move for Leeds United winger Jack Clarke, who is young (18 years old) and English, so perhaps more likely to be a target for Tottenham than others.  Youri Tielemans is a player Tottenham have been tracking for a number of years, who is now reportedly in talks with Leicester City for a move from AS Monaco, but being Belgian, it is unlikely Spurs would try to buy him, because they need to increase the number of English players in the squad to meet UEFA limits.

RUMOURS : - Tottenham are today being linked with a GBP20 million move for Paris Saint Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, with the club reported ot be in pole position to seal a deal for the 23 year old French international.

TEAM NEWS : -  Sunday's FA Cup tie at Crystal Palace will see Tottenham without Moussa Sissoko (knee) and Ben Davies (groin), who were both injured in the League Cup semi-final match on Thursday.  Harry Kane (ankle) and Dele Alli (hamstring) are also out, with Victor Wanyama back in training, although maybe not ready to return at Selhurst Mark.  Fernando Llorente is expected to continue leading the attack for Spurs.

Under-18s : -  Spurs crashed out of the Premier League U18 League Cup with a quarter final defeat 0-2 away at Derby County tonight.

Heung-Min Son was part of the South Korea side knocked out of the Asian Cup at the quarter final stage by Qatar 0-1 today in the UAE.

   OTHER NEWS ... Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup in the Fourth Round tonight 1-3 at home by Manchester United in a game where they failed to control their players and an object was thrown from the crowd at an opposition player.  Sound familiar ? ...

Tottenham's Under-23s beat Athletic Bilbao 5-4 at Stevenage FC tonight in the Premier League International Cup thanks to goals from Vincent Janssen, Jack Roles 2, Shilow Tracey and Anthony Georgiou to reach the quarter-finals

TEAM NEWS : -  Lucas Moura and Moussa Sissoko are available for selection for tomorrow's League Cup semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge.  Victor Wanyama is also back in training, but it may be too soon for him to feature.  Spurs are without Harry Kane (ankle), Dele Alli (hamstring and Heung-Min Son (International duty).  Chelsea have signed forward Gonzalo Higuain on loan from AC Milan until the end of the season, but he did not complete his transfer in time to play against Tottenham tomorrow.

Spurs are rumoured to be interested in Jack Clarke, the Leeds United winger and Mauricio Pochettino is rumoured to be ready to talk to Paris Saint Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, after a move to Barcelona looked to be off the menu, with the Spanish club having signed Kevin-Prince Boateng and lined up Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong in the summer.  .

Dele Alli will be out until early March with a hamstring strin picked up late in the game at Fulham on Sunday.

Tottenham are reported to be back in for PSV Eindhoven's winger Steven Bergwijn, while Sevilla are interested in singing Vincent Janssen on loan, but he would prefer a permanent move away, with Burnley reportedly interested in the Dutch forward.  The 24 year old striker is said in The sun to favour a move to Crystal Palace or West Ham United London.

South Korea beat Bahrain 2-1 in extra time to reach the last eight of the Asian Cup today.  Heung-Min Son played the whole game to help his side thorugh to the quarter-finals, where they will meet Qatar on Friday.

Hard to believe transfer of the day is the completion of Kevin-Prince Boateng's move to Barcelona from Sassuolo on loan until the end of the season with the option of a GBP7.1 million permanent deal at the end of it !!.

Spurs are said to be in the chase for AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko in this transfer window, but in Mauricio Pochettino's press conference today, he said the club's transfer policy had not been altered by Harry Kane's injury and that they would not be signing Giuseppe Rossi, the former Genoa striker.  .

Harry Kane has been voted England's Player of the Year for 2018, following his win in the same award the previous year.

Former Spurs Development defender Jaden Brown who left for Huddersfield Town last month has joined Exeter City on loan.

The Under-23s drew 2-2 away at Norwich City in the Premier League International Cup today with goals from Tashan Oakley-Boothe and Jack Roles.  Goalkeeper Brandon Austin was injured trying to stop the Canaries' late equaliser, leaving Maximus Tainio to go on goal for the last few minutes, as all three substitutions had been made.

Mousa Dembele joined Guangzhou R&F today for a fee reported to be between GBP9 million or GBP11 million subject to international clearance.

Our Under-18s lost 2-5 to Arsenal after extra time in the FA Youth Cup Fourth Round tonight at Boreham Wood FC.  Armando Shashoua and J'Neil Bennett scored with the game ending 2-2 after 90 minutes.

The striker search continues for Spurs with Antonio Sabaria, the 22 year old Real Betis forward the latest name to be thrown into the ring, along with AFC Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson and former Fiorentina and Genoa striker Giuseppe Rossi, the 31 year old free agent, reportedly on a pay-as-you-play deal due to the injuries the Italian international has suffered throughout his career.  Meanwhile, it is rumoured that Manchester City and Chelsea are interested in signing Christian Eriksen.

Brent Council have approved Wembley Stadium's application for five more domestic fixtures to have a capacity of 62,000 and the Champions League games to be open to 91,000 fans for the remainder of Tottenham's tenure at the national stadium.

Heung-Min Son made both goals in South Korea's 2-0 win over China in their Asian Cup group, which they ended topping.

Moussa Sissoko has been ruled out for a month with a hamstring strain.

Rumours suggest that Christian Eriksen will refuse to sign a new contract with Tottenham as he is keen on a move to Real Madrid.  The news that Spurs are in the market for a replacement for the injured Harry Kane have put the club as having interests in signing Marko Arnautovic (West Ham United London), Malcom (Barcelona), Jack Clarke (Leeds United), Callum Wilson (Bournemouth), Nabil Fekir (Olympique Lyonnais), James Rodriguez (Bayern Munich for GBP3 million), Timo Werner (Red Bull Leipzig) and Divock Origi (Liverpool) or the injury to Kane will not affect the club's spending in the transfer window.  Alternatively, Spurs could be ready to put 16 year old Troy Parrott into the squad for Sunday's game at Fulham.

Serge Aurier was arrested by Police on Sunday on suspicion of assault at his home.  He was later released without charge.

The transfer window opening has sparked a number of rumours linking Spurs to potential January singings, although the longer term target of AC Milan's Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie has been reported as a summer GBP36 million possibility.  If the club want to sign Hull City striker Jarrod Bowen, it will reportedly cost them GBP20 million, while two French players are mentioned as targets, being Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele and Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.  21 year old Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek is also a name mentioned as a possible January purchase, possibly to replace former Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen, whose contract talks are said not to be progressing very far and Real Madrid and Barcelona are both watching his situation.

   MEHSTG's no-spin story ... Not that it has anything to do with him, apart from being an old whinger, Neil Warnock has said that Moussa Sissoko should have been sent off for a tackle the ref didn't see as a booking and that Spurs ought to be made to play the rest of the season at Wembley by the FA, as it would be an advantage if they were allowed to play at their new stadium.  I think there may not be a lot going on upstairs in the head of Neil Warnock and it still doesn't deflect form the fact that his side were crap ...
