Spurs have announced a £1 million rise in profit in the last six
months compared to the previous year, with the total turnover of £36.3
million resulting in a £4.4 million profit. Much of the rise is
due to player sales, which overcame the loss of being knocked out of
the Carling Cup in the first round the club played in. However,
a warning about the next six months trading figures was given as it
will include the losses incurred by getting knocked out of the FA Cup
at the Third Round stage.

Sochaux centre back Souleymane Diawara
is attracting interest from Spurs, Everton, Glasgow Rangers, Marseille
and Paris St. Germain, but the Senegal international is thought to
favour the Premiership as his destination. Sky Sports website
claims that Swedish midfielder Kim Kallstrom, who seems to have
been linked with a move to Spurs for years, is being linked again, as
well as being associated with a move to Glasgow Rangers. France
Football reckon that should Martin Jol be looking for a new striker in
the summer, he will cast his sight towards Fenerbahce, where
Nicolas Anelka will be his target. Oh, really ??
Meanwhile, Marton Fulop sees to see his future away from White
Hart Lane, as he wants his loan move to Coventry City made permanent
because he cannot foresee getting a lot of first team action with
Paul Robinson doing so well. The agent of Mido is
trying to force Tottenham's hand in signing the Egyptian in the summer
by saying that other, bigger clubs have moved ahead of Tottenham in
the race to sign his client. He said that he was talking to AS
Roma who now have a new coach who might want to take Mido back and to
other clubs about a move for his player and how he could not believe
Tottenham had made a move to make the loan permanent. Agents eh

Radek Cerny will be staying at Tottenham until 2008 on loan
rather than the rumour that had been reported that he would be signing
permanently from Slavia Prague. Martin Jol has reiterated that
Aaron Lennon is not unsettled at Tottenham despite rumours that
he wanted to move back North. Jol admitted that the young winger
did suffer homesickness, but that having spent some time back in
Leeds, he has returned in a positive frame of mind and he has not
indicated that he wishes to leave. Another player who is
rumoured to be moving on is Stephen Kelly. Meanwhile,
keeper Paul Robinson said that he admitted that the team had been

Forwards once more dominate the Spurs news. The News of the
World claim Tottenham have offered £15 million for Atletico Madrid's
rising star Fernando Torres, while the People report that
Jermain Defoe has clarified that he has not asked for a transfer
and intends to stay at White Hart Lane. At the other end of the
pitch, Manchester City's teenage defender Micah Richards is
supposed to be sparking a transfer battle involving Spurs, Chelsea,
Arsenal and Manchester United. Michael Carrick is
expecting contract talks to be held over the summer to keep him at
White Hart Lane, he told The Independent yesterday.
Apparently, Liverpool Chief Executive Rick Parry is talking to Spurs
to try and resolve the row that has blown up by Rafa Benitez' comments
about Tottenham being "desperate" to sell Jermain Defoe. He said
Spurs are making it clear that they are not interested in their player
and they are not interested in ours, so hopefully the matter can be
put to bed.

TeamTalk speculate that Martin Jol might make a bid to keep
Stephen Kelly at White Hart Lane. With the Irish defender's
contract up at the end of the season, he looked set to move on after
not getting a starting place in the first eleven, but having played

Martin Jol also said that Ledley King would be fit for the

Well, Rafa Benitez has said that Spurs are desperate to sell
Jermain Defoe. MEHSTG is not sure where he gets that from,
but he seems to think that it is linked to Tottenham bringing up
Djibril Cisse's name up on a regular basis. Well, the only
time Cisse's name is mentioned by Spurs staff is when they have to
respond to stories of his agent hyping him up for a move to Tottenham.
Anyway, come the evening, Daniel Levy issued a statement on the
club website stating that the club have no intention of bidding for
Cisse nor Louis Saha and that he expected Benitez to withdraw his
"wholly inaccurate and inappropriate" comments, which were
unprecedented with one manager commenting on another club's player.
Levy was resentful that he had to set the record straight and said
that the comments were beyond belief and could only be interpreted as
an attempt to unsettle Defoe. I guess that we have not heard the
last of this issue and that there will be an investigation to fully
examine Benitez' part in this outrageous slur.
Radek Cerny looks to be another player who will sign a
permanent deal with Spurs according to the Czech press. Despite
only getting a handful of games, the goalkeeper looks set to become
Paul Robinson's back-up on a regular basis, after being at the
club on loan for 18 months.

Martin Jol has told the media that he did not make a late bid

to yesterday's story about interest from PSV Eindhoven and said that
he is not interested in the job, as his focus is on Tottenham, where
he believes that over the next couple of years he can get the team to
challenge the top four. Jermain Defoe has said that he is
running out of time to prove to Sven Goran Eriksson that he should be
on the plane to the World Cup in Germany. The Spurs striker
hopes that the England coach knows exactly what he can do, but
acknowledges that his lack of on-pitch time might count against him,
with his rivals playing regularly. Defoe said that in the past
he might have beaten a path to the manager's office, but has not done
so, preferring to get on with his training and showing that he can
knuckle down for the benefit of the team. Martin Jol has said

Djibril Cisse's agent is bigging him up for a move to Tottenham
in the summer, when he thinks £7 million - £10 million should secure
the Liverpool striker's services. He reckons he knows Tottenham
are interested, but the Daily Mail claims that a Spurs spokesperson
said that the club had not made a precious bid nor shown interest in
the French striker with a particular line in weird facial hair and
hair stylings. Real Mallorca's Juan Arrango is another
striker Spurs are supposedly keen on. Sky Sports website reports
that Tottenham are still in the hunt for the Venezuelan forward and
that a £2.4 million offer has been refused by the La Liga club, who
want nearer £4.5 million and West Ham United, Wigan Athletic and
Bolton Wanderers are all watching the situation too. Meanwhile,

Tottenham have announced that a deal to sign
16-year-old striker Tomas Pekhart from Slavia Prague has

deal and the club fought off two other Premiership clubs for his
signature. A Slavia spokesman said Tottenham had been following
the player for some time and in 2005, the Czech Republic youth
international was named the Junior Footballer of the Year. Also
on the striker front, the Sun claims that Newcastle United have put in
a £15 million bid for Atletico Madrid's young forward Fernando
Torres. Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea are also supposed to
be keeping an eye on the situation with the 21 year old who is likely
to leave the La Liga club in the summer. In addition, Mido's
permanent transfer from AS Roma looks to be completed in the next
couple of weeks. To supply these new strikers, the Daily Express
reckon Martin Jol would be willing to take Arjen Robben
to the Lane should Michael Ballack's arrival threaten his position in
the Chelsea side. The Spurs Head Coach is said to be ready to
ask the board to "break the bank" to buy the Dutch winger.

team start. Meanwhile, another forward will be heading back to
Tottenham, as Mounir El Hamdaoui will return from Derby County
for the second time this season as his loan has been cancelled,
because he needs surgery on a groin injury sustained when scoring
against Leicester City for the Rams.

The Mail on Sunday reports that Martin Jol might be poised to steal
Ajax's Tunisian defender Hatem Trabelsi away to Spurs while
Arsenal thought that he would sign for them. The 29 year old
said he already knows where he will be playing his football next
season and as he will be at the end of this contract, he will walk
away from Ajax for free. If you believe the
Sunday People, then Arsenal do not understand the meaning of homesick,
as the paper reckons they will try and take Aaron Lennon across
North London from Spurs. Tottenham appear to be watching wingers
and the latest linked with the club is 18 year old

Good news on the striking front as Robbie Keane has signed a
new four year contract at Spurs. The Irish striker said that he
could see the club was going in the right direction and he has some
good friends among the players and staff at Spurs, while Martin Jol
commented that Robbie was an influential team player and a leader too,
as he is now the vice-captain. Also staying at Tottenham is
Calum Davenport, who the Sun claim was blocked from going on loan
to Leeds United by the club. One player who might be moving on
is Marton Fulop, who has said he likes it at Coventry City and
at Tottenham he will not get much first team experience while Paul
Robinson is there, so might need to take a move to another club to
get the playing time he needs.
