   OTHER NEWS ... Martin O'Neill was sacked as manager of Sunderland after today's match that they lost against Manchester United, leaving them very close to the relegation places ...

   SWANSEA CITY TEAM NEWS : -  Defender Chico Flores may return to action after an ankle injury has kept him side-lined for seven weeks.  Neil Taylor is still out from a bad dislocation and fracture of his ankle earlier in the season and Kemy Agustien is out with a thigh strain.

   Spurs have been linked on the internet with a move for Ajax's Danish 21 year old midfielder Christian Eriksen, with the offer accepted pending Champions League qualification.
   Meanwhile TalkSport also have Spurs going Dutch, as we were keen on Feyenoord's 19 year old midfielder Jordy Clasie, but they have had an offer received from Fiorentina.  The Dutch club said they will make a decision on it at the end of their season.
   In the Daily Star, they claim Spurs hope to sign 27 year old Senegal and Fenerbahce striker Mousa Sow ahead of Liverpool, who also have an interest in the player.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Aaron Lennon and Michael Dawson will both be fit to be selected against Swansea City on Saturday.  While he is back in training now, Younes Kaboul is still not quite match-fit enough to be considered and Sandro is still out following surgery on his knee.  All the other internationals who were on duty last week have come back unharmed.
   Swindon Town have signed Dean Parrett, Nathan Byrne and Massimo Luongo on loan until the end of the season.
   Goalkeeper Jonathan Miles has joined Dagenham & Redbridge on loan until the end of the season.
   Defender Kevin Stewart has gone on loan at Crewe Alexandra until the end of the season..
   Rumours on the internet are linking Spurs youngsters William Troost Ekong and Jack Munns with loan spells at Birmingham City, with Munns already having played for the Midlands club's Under-21 side last week.

   Tottenham's Under-18 side were denied a win at Anfield this afternoon against Liverpool and had to settle for a 2-2 draw after the home team had scored a first minute goal and then a last minute equaliser cancelled out Roman Michael-Percil's brace.
   Clint Dempsey led the USA to a 1-1 draw away to Mexico in a World Cup qualifier in the early hours of this morning.

   Gareth Bale played the full 90 minutes of Wales' 1-2 home defeat by Croatia in their World Cup qualifying match at Swansea, with our Welsh wizard scoring the Wales goal from the penalty spot.
   Belgium beat Macedonia 1-0 in Brussels, with Jan Vertonghen playing the whole match and Mousa Dembele being taken off after 56 minutes.
   Hugo Lloris captained France in their 0-1 defeat to Spain in Paris tonight in a World Cup qualifier.
   Steven Caulker, Jermain Defoe, Scott Parker and Kyle Walker all remained on the bench as England managed a 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw in Montenegro tonight.

   The Spurs Under-21 side continued their good form in the Elite Group stage of the FA Premier U21 League with a 4-0 away win over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.  Nabil Benatleb scored twice, Dean Parrett once and Cristian Ceballos scored from the penalty spot.
   Danny Rose played the first 45 minutes and Adam Smith the second 45 minutes, as England Under-21s beat Austria U21s 4-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion's groun
d tonight.  Andros Townsend played the whole 90 minutes.
   Jordan Archer played in Scotland Under 21's 3-0 win over Luxembourg Under-21 at St. Mirren tonight.
   England Under-17s slipped to a 1-2 defeat by Russia U17 a Burton Albion's ground tonight, where Connor Ogilvie was an unused substitute.

   Tottenham's Under-21 fixture against West Bromwich Albion will kick off at 13:00 at the Hawthorns, but it will be played behind closed doors.
   Lewis Holtby scored for Germany Under-21s in their 2-1 win over Israel U21s tonight.


   OTHER NEWS ... Southend United have sacked manager Paul Sturrock, but they will ask him back to lead the team out against Crewe Alexandra in the final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy  ...

   Clint Dempsey captained USA to a 1-0 victory over Costa Rica in Denver, scoring the only goal of the World Cup qualifier.
   TalkSport report that Tottenham have been told by a former associate of Pablo Osvaldo, that the 26 year old Argentine AS Roma forward, is virtually un-transferable.
   The Under-18s game at Liverpool was postponed today because of bad weather and will now kick off at 13:00 at Anfield on Wednesday 27th March.

   Jermain Defoe scored twice in England's 8-0 win away to San Marino in a World Cup qualifier tonight.  Defoe and Kyle Walker both played he full 90 minutes, while Scott Parker came on as a substitute in the 66th minute and Steven Caulker was not called upon from the bench.
   Wales won 2-1 in Glasgow tonight against Scotland in their World Cup group, with Gareth Bale playing the first 45 minutes before being substituted.
   Iceland beat Slovenia 2-1 in their away World Cup qualifier tonight.  Gylfi Sigurdsson played 90 minutes and scored both Iceland goals and his second goal was set up by former Spurs striker Eidur Gudjohnsen, who had replaced former Spurs reserve winger Emil Hallfredsson.
   Both Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele played the whole game with Belgium beating Macedonia 2-0 away in the World Cup qualifying match tonight.
   France beat Georgia 3-1 in Paris tonight in their World Cup qualifying group game, with Hugo Lloris playing in goal for them.
   The Metro has Spurs and Chelsea vying for Southampton's young left back Luke Shaw in the summer, with the player said to be worth £16.5 million.

   MEHSTG's spin story ... West Ham United have been awarded the tenancy of the Olympic Stadium at Stratford thanks to a £40 million loan from Newham Council and £60 million from the Government ... so if you live in Newham, you are paying twice for the club's new ground.  West Ham's vice-chairman ( an interesting role for a club who has David Gold and David Sullivan as chairmen considering their past business activities) Karren Brady said "The consultation we have promised them will now begin and we can't wait to work with them to create a stunning new home that befits the pride, passion and tradition that the world associates with West Ham United."  So, that means going up and down between the top two divisions on a regular basis and having the odd running battle in the streets with Millwall ?  How about a chorus of "Best ground in the Championship" anyone ?

   Gary Mabbutt has had an emergency operation on his leg to resolve some circulation issues.  All at MEHSTG wish him well in his recovery.
   Danny Rose played the first half of England Under-21s 3-0 friendly win over Romania at Wycombe Wanderers FC tonight.  Tom Carroll won his first cap as a 75th minute substitute, when he came on at the same time as Adam Smith.

   Tottenham's NextGen team lost 3-5 after extra time to Sporting Lisbon tonight at Leyton Orient FC, after the game finished 3-3 at 90 minutes. For a match report click here.

   Aaron Lennon and Michael Dawson have pulled out of the England squad for this week's World Cup qualifiers with injury, but Steven Caulker has been called up to the squad from the Under-21s.
   In the England Under-21 squad are Danny Rose, Tom Carroll, Adam Smith and Andros Townsend for the team's friendlies against Romania and Austria.
   The Under-21s fixture at Anfield against Liverpool has been moved from 19:00 to 14:00 on Monday 1st April.

   Tottenham lost 0-1 to Fulham at White hart lane this afternoon.  Click here for a match report.
   According to the Star on Sunday, Manchester United have made high-level contact with Tottenham over the purchase of Gareth Bale, but their interest cooled somewhat when told he would cost the Old Trafford club £70 million.


   OTHER NEWS ... The man arrested for encroaching on the pitch before the Everton - Manchester City match turned out to be a comedy actor called Lee Nelson, who thought that one of his characters should be kicking about with the City players.  He appears in a Liverpool court on 3rd April ...

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs still have Younes Kaboul and Sandro rules out with knee injuries, but there are hopes that Clint Dempsey will return form his calf strain and Gareth Bale will be in the side after being suspended for the Europa League match in mid-week.  Hugo Lloris and Michael Dawson are expected to return after sitting out the game in Milan and Aaron Lennon could start after coming on as a sub on Thursday.
   FULHAM TEAM NEWS : -  Steve Sidwell should recover from a knock he picked up last week to play in midfield, while Mahamadou Diarra is out with a knee injury.

   MEHSTG's spin story ... A man was arrested today at Goodison Park as he tried to warm up with the Manchester City team prior to kickoff.  Luckily, security staff apprehended him while he was having trouble putting his training bib on.

   Tottenham have been drawn at home to FC Basel of Switzerland in the quarter finals of the Europa League.  The first leg will be at home on Thursday 4th April and the second leg on Thursday 11th April in Basel.

   Tottenham lost 1-4 after extra time to Internazionale in the San Siro tonight, after the Europa League Round of 16 second leg tie ended 0-3 and 3-3 on aggregate at the end of 90 minutes.  Spurs progress on away goals in the tie that ended 4-4 on aggregate.  For a match report, click here.
   Five Spurs players have been named in the England squad for the World Cup qualifying matches against San Martino and Montenegro next week.  They are Scott Parker, Jermain Defoe, Aaron Lennon, Michael Dawson and Kyle Walker.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Emmanuel Adebayor and Aaron Lennon have travelled to Milan with the squad for tomorrow's Europa League tie with Internazionale.  Younes Kaboul and Sandro (both knee) and Clint Dempsey (calf) are all missing from the squad through injury, while Gareth Bale sits the game out with a suspension.
   INTERNAZIONALE TEAM NEWS : -  Four players have been omitted from the squad for the game - Ezequiel Schelotto, Marco Benassi, Dejan Stankovic and Alvaro Pereira - as manager Stramaccioni looks like he might be concentrating on the league.  Defender Walter Samuel and striker Diego Milito are both injured and will miss the match.
   Gareth Bale has been included in the Welsh squad for World Cup qualifiers against Scotland and Croatia later this month.
   Former Spurs winger Peter Taylor has been named as the England Under-20 manager for this summer's U20 World Cup in Turkey and he will be taking the Tottenham Senior Professional Phase Coach Chris Ramsey as his assistant.

   Tottenham's Under-21s side won again in the Elite Group of the FA Premier League U21 League, beating West Bromwich Albion at Hotspur Way 4-0, thanks to goals from Jack Munns 2, Kenneth McEvoy and Shaquile Coulthirst.

   Tottenham lost 2-3 to Liverpool at Anfield this afternoon.  For a match report, click here.
   Spurs and Arsenal are being linked with a move for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain in the Spanish press today, while the Daily Star today reckon that the La Liga club's Croatian midfielder Luka Modric could be coming back to Tottenham with £30 million in exchange for Gareth Bale.  The Sunday Mirror claims Real Madrid are putting together a £60 million offer for Gareth Bale, which will see him put on a £10 million-a-year deal on a five year contract.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -   Tottenham will once more be without long-term injured Younes Kaboul and Sandro (both knee), while Clint Dempsey (calf) and Tom Huddlestone (knee) are both also missing.  However, Emmanuel Adebayor will be available after injury against Arsenal last Sunday, although there is a doubt over Aaron Lennon's participation as he pulled a hamstring against Internazionale on Thursday.
   LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS :-  Martin Skrtel might return on the bench and Daniel Sturridge in the team as Liverpool prepare to meet Spurs at Anfield.  A dislocated shoulder keeps Franco Borini sidelined and Martin Kelly's knee ligament injury is not quite resolved to allow him to start a game just yet.

   The Under-18s won 2-1 away at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Premier U18 League with goals from Dominic Ball and Ruben Lameiras.
   Manchester City are keen on AZ Alkmaar's 19 year old midfielder Adam Maher, but Spurs have had the teenager watched this season and Arsenal are also interested in the £10 million rated youngster


   OTHER NEWS ... A state of emergency in Egypt has been declared after the decision to give death sentences to those involved in causing the riot at a league game which caused numerous deaths were upheld  ...

   Tottenham beat Internazionale 3-0 at White Hart Lane tonight in the Europa League Round of 16 First Leg.  For a match report, click here.
   The Daily Mail reckon Spurs are offering Gareth Bale a "double your money" deal to keep him at the club.  This would see him being paid £150,000 a week (£8 million a year) to sign a five year contract.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Jermain Defoe and Mousa Dembele are both fit for selection to face Internazionale, while Younes Kaboul (knee), Sandro (knee), Clint Dempsey (calf) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) are all ruled out of the match.
   INTERNAZIONALE TEAM NEWS : -  Out for the rest of the season, knee injury victim Diego Milito is joined on the sidelines by defenders Andrea Rannachio (knee) and Walter Samuel (Achilles tendon).

   The Metro try to stir things up ahead of our Europa League clash with Internazionale by stating that the Italian side are thinking of making a move for Aaron Lennon in the summer.
   They also claim that Spurs and Arsenal are set to battle it out for the signature of Jordy Clasie, the 21 year old Feyenoord midfielder in the close season.

   Tottenham are supposedly interested in 22 year old Sochaux defender Sebastien Corchia, according to the TalkSport website, but then so are Internazionale, AC Milan and Paris St. Germain, so his chances of coming to Spurs rest on the club making an early move for him, with the defender rated  at £8 million.
   The Daily Mail claim that Tottenham are after Feyenoord's 21 year old defender, Bruno Martins Indi, who can play centre-half or left back and would cost £5.5 million.
   The NextGen team's quarter final match against Sporting Lisbon will take place at Leyton Orient's ground on Wednesday 20th March with the kick off at 19:00.  Tickets are available from Orient's reception from 18:00 on the night priced at £5 adults and £1 for Under-18s.

   Spurs Under-21s lost their first game of the Elite Group stage of the Premier League U21 competition at Telford United's ground, as Wolverhampton Wanderers won 4-3.  Tottenham's goal-scorers were Shaquile Coulthirst, Jack Munns and Dean Parrett.
   Tottenham Under-21s game away at Southampton has been moved to Monday 29th April with a 14:30 kick off.

   Tottenham beat Arsenal 2-1 at White Hart Lane this afternoon.  For a match report click here.
   The Sunday People report that Real Madrid may make a move for Kyle Walker this summer rather than Gareth Bale.  Bale may have indicated that he will spend another year with Tottenham if they achieve Champions League football and that the Spanish club have switched their attention to the right back as they are looking to replace Alvaro Arbeloa in the close season.  The article claims that if the England defender was to leave, Daniel Levy would be looking for in excess of £15 million.
   In the Metro, a report indicates that Spurs are watching 23 year old Argentinian Ruben Botta, who plays wide in midfield or behind a striker for Tigre.  Internazionale are also watching the player and may have had talks with his club, but Spurs could be interested, with his asking price just £7 million.

   Tottenham's Under-18s beat West Ham United U18 3-0 at Hotspur Way this morning, with goals from Nathan Oduwa, Ruben Lameiras and Darren McQueen.


   OTHER NEWS ... York City sacked manager Gary Mills after their 0-2 defeat by Bradford City today ... 


   MEHSTG's no-spin story ... With talk of the World Cup in Qatar in 2018 being moved to the winter because of the unacceptable summer conditions, there have been claims that artificial clouds could be used to prevent the sun getting through to the pitch !!

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Clint Dempsey's calf strain adds him to the list of Younes Kaboul (knee), Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Sandro (knee) who will miss Sunday's match with Arsenal, but better news is that Jermain Defoe may have a chance of playing after training for the last couple of days .
   ARSENAL TEAM NEWS : -   Bacary Sagna (knee) and Kieran Gibbs (thigh) are out and Abou Diaby is doubtful with a calf injury, but is expected to play.
   Gareth Bale won the Barclays Player of the Month award for February and Andre Villas-Boas the Manager of the Month award for the same month.
   The Daily Mail says that if Real Madrid lose Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, they will make Gareth Bale their number one target.
   In the London Evening Standard, they claim that Tottenham will listen to offers for Emmanuel Adebayor and AVB will make Brazil and Internacional striker Leandro Damiao and Eder of Braga and Portugal his priorities for the 2013-14 season.
