Tottenham are being linked in the News of the World with a move for
Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson in the summer,
with Arsenal also interested, while the same tabloid reckon Spurs
will fight Liverpool for 17 year old Colchester United winger
Medy Elito. The Sunday Mirror claims that Real Madrid will
make a £25 million offer for Dimitar Berbatov, but
Tottenham's response will be a pay rise up to £90,000 a week, but
this will only be dependent on him signing a four year deal and
answering the club's proposal within two weeks, thus allowing them
time to arrange for a replacement should he wish to leave. The
Sunday People reckon that
Spurs are up against Celtic and Sunderland
in the chase for Dutch Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng
(Didier Zokora won't be pleased) and also that the club are willing
to spend £10million to bring 23 year old Lokomotiv Moscow striker
Diniyar Bilyaletdinov to Tottenham. The Russian
international can fill the left wing position, centre forward or his
preferred choice as an attacking midfielder behind the front two.
The Daily Star on Sunday also carries the Michael Johnson
story and an additional one confirming last week's news that
Tottenham will make a move for Wolfsburg's German central defender
Alexander Madlung.
Radek Cerny, whose loan deal is up in the summer, has
revealed to Sky Sports website that he looks set to join QPR on a
