   The People reports that Spurs and West Ham United are interested in buying Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor.
   In the same paper, they claim that Harry Redknapp would like to bring his former West Ham United midfield protégé Joe Cole to White Hart Lane from Chelsea.
   The Sunday Mirror claims
that Spurs have a different midfield target, as Sunderland's Kieran Richardson will be an £8 million summer target.
   The Mirror also reckons that Bolton Wanderers have made a £6 million offer for midfielder Tom Huddlestone, hoping to beat Fulham and Aston Villa to the signing of the England Under-21 international.
   The Mirror carries the best story of the day by carrying an article stating that the new prospective owners of Portsmouth want Harry Redknapp to be their new manager in a third spell at the Fratton Park club.
   In the Mail On Sunday, they go even further, with a list of players which includes Huddlestone as well as
Didier Zokora, Gareth Bale, David Bentley, Heurelho Gomes, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Darren Bent.
   Sunderland appear the keenest to take Darren Bent off Tottenham's hands with a bid in the offing during the summer
.
   Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry is once more linked with a move to Spurs, this time in the People, but they claim he is more likely to go to Manchester City or Arsenal.  The report claims that if Tottenham do acquire Barry, then it will be the end of Jermaine Jenas' Spurs career.
   Former Spurs defender Colin Calderwood is being courted by Chesterfield and Hibernian to take over as manager of the two club's vacant posts
.
   The Daily Star Sunday has Harry Redknapp is "seriously" looking at a bid for Liverpool's Ryan Babel
.
   32 year old FC Porto midfielder Tarik Sektioui
claims that Aston Villa, Spurs and some clubs from the Persian Gulf have made contact with his agent about signing him.  The Moroccan is available on a free transfer.

and the next one for Spurs is an away friendly against Peterborough United on Tuesday 21st July with the game at London Road kicking off at 7:45 p.m.
  
Spurs Under-18s retained their Monthey International Youth Tournament trophy with a 3-0 win over Hajduk Split in the final tonight in Switzerland, as goals from Ryan Mason, John Bostock and Anton Blackwood secured victory.

  MEHSTG's spin story 2 ... The Sunday People runs a piece stating that the FA Premier League have demoted referee Steve Tanner because of a series of poor marks during the season and that Keith Stroud and Uriah Rennie will also no longer take PL games after missing the whole season for fitness reasons.  Is that because Rennie wasn't fit for purpose or physically fit ?

   The Daily Star reports that Spurs and Arsenal may be in competition now that the paper reveals that West Ham United goalkeeper Rob Green may have turned down a new contract from the Irons.
   Middlesbrough have said to winger Stewart Downing that he can leave the club but he MUST not join Tottenham !!  Hurrah !!
   The Under-18 side beat Flamengo
2-1 in the semi-final of the Monthey international youth tournament in Switzerland tonight.  Goals from Ryan Mason and Paul-Jose M'Poku sees them through to face Hajduk Split in tomorrow's final.

   Robbie Keane scored the Republic of Ireland's equaliser in their friendly against Nigeria at Craven Cottage tonight.
  
The Under-18s drew 1-1 with Olympique Marseille in the Monthey tournament in Switzerland and progress to the semi-finals of the international youth competition.  The Tottenham goal was scored by John Bostock.
   Danny Rose played the whole of England Under-19s 4-1 UEFA Elite qualifying round win over Slovakia at
Bradford City FC tonight, while Dean Parrett was used as an 88th minute substitute.  Andros Townsend stayed on the bench throughout the game

   The Daily Mirror claims that Aston Villa have made an enquiry about the availability of winger David Bentley and hints at a swap for midfielder Gareth Barry.
   The Mirror also brings us good news that Middlesbrough have put winger Stewart Downing up for sale, but will only countenance a deal with a top four club.  Hurrah !!

   In The Sun, Spurs are being linked with a move for Manchester City's Bulgarian left winger Martin Petrov.
   Wolverhampton Wanderers claim to have pulled out of a deal to buy Tom Huddlestone after Spurs wanted £8 million for him according to the Daily Mail.
  
The Guardian claim that Spurs will be willing to sell Roman Pavyluchenko and Darren Bent, with Djibril Cisse seen as a replacement in the attack.
  
Jermaine Defoe is in the England squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Andorra .
  
Tottenham are reported to be interested in FC Basle's 17 year old full back Janick Kamber, who would cost £2.6 million.
  
Former Spurs manager Martin Jol has quit as manager of SV Hamburg and taken a three year contract to be the new manager at Ajax.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Tottenham will be without Aaron Lennon (groin), Tom Huddlestone (knee), Jamie O'Hara (knee), Michael Dawson (ankle) and Wilson Palacios (compassionate leave).  There are doubts over Jonathan Woodgate (groin) and Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee), so both will have late tests to see if they can play.
   LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS : -  Defender Sami Hyypia is expected to play some part in what will be his final game for the Reds.

   Spurs are just one of a host of clubs who watched Twente Enschede winger Eljero Elia on Sunday in the Dutch Cup Final.  The best young player in Holland this season was the main target of SV Hamburg ,Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, Everton, Arsenal and Manchester City.
   The Sky Sports website claims that Marseille, Fulham and Wigan Athletic are keen to sign up midfielder Didier Zokora, although Fulham only want a loan deal.

   The Sun claimed that Tottenham were set to bid £18 million for Carlos Tevez, but it appears that other clubs are outbidding them for the Argentinian striker.
   This leads the Guardian to believe that Spurs will concentrate on a move for Sunderland forward Kenwyne Jones, who said he might leave should the Black Cats be relegated.
   Aston Villa's midfielder Gareth Barry is supposedly a target for Tottenham according to the Independent
.  They also link Spurs with striker Roque Santa Cruz of Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth defender Glen Johnson.
   The Daily Mail report that Internazionale midfielder Sulley Muntari will turn down a move to Tottenham.
  
Spurs will battle with former boss Martin Jol's SV Hamburg for the signing of Lazio striker Goran Pandev.
   Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric are in the Croatia squad for the World Cup qualifier against Ukraine on June 6th.
  
Apparently, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Harry Redknapp have discussed the player's role at the club and have agreed that the Russian has had a tough time since joining straight from the Russian league season.  Redknapp has set Pav a target of 20 goals next season and this hints he might not be one of the player son his way in the summer.
  
Rumours on Football 365 from China indicate that Spurs might play Hull City and West ham United in The Premier League Asian tournament in Beijing from July 29th to August 1st.

   The Daily Mirror claims that Spurs are making Lazio's 25 year old Macedonian striker Goran Pandev their number one target this summer, with an asking price of £15 million being quoted.
   On the other hand, the Daily Mail reckon that Wolfsburg's Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko will be the man to lead the Spurs attack.
   Spurs are also being linked with a £6 million move for Wigan Athletic's Austrian central defender Paul Scharner
.
   The Daily Express claim Tottenham are set to bid £8 million for Glasgow Celtic midfielder Scott Brown.
  
The Daily Star runs a story saying that Harry Redknapp might have trouble moving on some players from the existing squad for low prices, as chairman Daniel Levy will want to recoup the money paid for them.
   Former Spurs manager Christian Gross has been attacked on a tram in Switzerland by fans of rival club FC Zurich, who threw things at him, spat at and kicked the
Basle boss.

   Roman Pavlyuchenko has apologised to the club's players, fans and management after going straight down the tunnel after being substituted in Saturday's match against Manchester City.  The Russian striker said he was frustrated by his performance and will go away to train at being sharper in front of goal.
   Midfielder Tom Huddlestone had a knee operation today, which will rule him out of Tottenham's last game of the season at Liverpool and may prevent him playing in the England squad for the Under-21 European Championships in the summer
.
   Spurs are being linked with Anderlecht's defender Roland Johasz, who also interests Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers.

   Tottenham's Under-18s lost out 0-1 to Arsenal in the FA Premier Academy League play-off final at White Hart Lane this afternoon.
   Harry Redknapp has said that David Bentley might realise that he doe snot have much of a future at Tottenham after comments he made today, with some comments also made in Roman Pavlyuchenko's direction following him going straight down the tunnel after being substituted, which the manager thought "disrespectful."


   OTHER NEWS ... West Bromwich Albion were the first team to be relegated from the Premier League this season with a 0-2 defeat by Liverpool this afternoon ...    Tottenham beat Manchester City 2-1 at White Hart Lane this afternoon in the Premier League.  For a match report , click here.  For reaction, click here.
   In keeping Manchester City down to one goal, the team have set a new club record of home goals conceded in one season with only 10 goals getting past them.  The previous record dated back to 1919-1920 and saw the team concede 11 goals, but that was in a bigger league with more games played.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Didier Zokora are fit to be available to play against Manchester City, but Aaron Lennon has a groin injury that keeps him out of consideration.  Michael Dawson (ankle), Jamie O'Hara (knee), Adel Taarabt (knee), Giovani Dos Santos (illness) and Darren Bent (thigh) are all missing from the squad for the game.  Wilson Palacios is still in Honduras with his family after flying back to be with them last week.
   MANCHESTER CITY TEAM NEWS : -  A groin injury keeps Brazilian striker Robinho out of the City side, but Shaun Wright-Phillips could be on the bench and ready to play some part of the match after overcoming a knee injury.

   The Daily Star claim that Chelsea are interested in Porto defender Bruno Alves, but Real Madrid and Spurs are willing to agree to the club's £15 million valuation as well.
   Harry Redknapp has said he will not sanction a permanent deal to take defender Chris Gunter to Nottingham Forest

   Almeria winger Albert Crusat has said he would welcome a move to Tottenham in the summer.  The 27 year old winger has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane in the Spanish press
   Another player from Spain who is being linked with Tottenham is Portuguese goalkeeper Ricardo.  Currently at Real Betis, the goalie is not thought to be in the La Liga club's plans for the future as they fight to retain their place in the top flight.
  
Ledley King will be disciplined by Spurs for being arrested while drunk outside a West End night-club and will receive a two-week fine.
   Brentford have released former Spurs junior Glenn Poole, but have offered goalkeeper Simon Brown a new deal

   CRIME WATCH ... a 42 year old man and a 14 year old boy were found guilty of using indecent chants towards Sol Campbell at the Portsmouth v Tottenham Hotspur match earlier this season and they have been banned from attending matches for three years.  The man had to pay £500 costs, a £400 fine and a £15 to his victim and the boy was given an addition 12 month conditional discharge and directed to pay costs of £400 ... ...

   The Spurs Academy side will face Arsenal in the FA Academy League final at White Hart Lane on Sunday 17th May, with a 16:00 kick off.
   The BBC website reports that Spurs have received an offer from a Championship club for young full back Chris Gunter.  The unnamed club are also willing to take the Welshman on a season long loan if Tottenham are not willing to sell him.
   The Daily Mail reckon that Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz is top of Harry Redknapp's summer shopping list, but the Sun claim the wants to stay in the North-West with either Liverpool or Manchester City.
   Also in the Mail, they claim that former Spurs defender Colin Calderwood might be one of the favourites to take over as manager of Queens Park Rangers

   The Spurs Youth team travelled to Sunderland to play their one-off FA Premier Academy League play-off semi-final and won 2-1 with a Ryan Mason penalty and an Andros Townsend goal putting Tottenham through to a final against Arsenal at White Hart Lane on Sunday 17th May.
   Roman Pavlyuchenko has told the Russian press that he expects to be a Spurs player next season.
   The Sun claims that Spurs and Aston Villa are keeping tabs on goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer's situation at Fulham, where
the ex-Boro stopper has only a year left on his current contract.
   Spurs and Blackburn Rovers are being linked with an interest in taking Barcelona's promising striker Bojan Krkic on loan for next season.
   Tottenham plus six other Premier League clubs were watching Anderlecht at the weekend and their 23 year old Argentinian midfielder
Lucas Biglia was the centre of attention, as he now holds an Italian passport.
   A number of interesting offers have been made to Genoa's Argentinian striker Diego Milito and Internazionale, Spurs and Manchester City are thought to be among the favourites to win his signature.

   There is a story on the BBC website that Harry Redknapp might draft in his son Jamie to do some coaching with the youth team next season.
   After Ledley King's arrest for an alleged assault after being very, very drunk, Harry Redknapp is set to impose a booze ban at the club next season.
  
Thanks to our reader David O'Connell, who was in Milan and spotted Harry Redknapp, who had attended the AC Milan v Juventus match at the weekend.
   Meanwhile, back in this country, Redknapp seems to be playing down stories linking him with the two Sunderland strikers.  He said on the BBC website that he went for Kenwyne Jones in January, but now he has signed a new deal at the Stadium of Light, he is unlikely to pursue his interest and following the Black Cats forward Djibril Cisse's claims that Tottenham would be signing him from his parent club Marseille, Harry didn't specifically say he wouldn't be buying him, but hinted that there were no bids in for anyone yet.
  
Spurs are among a clutch of Premier League clubs who will be watching Hamilton Academicals' 18 year old James McCarthy on Wednesday, when he plays in midfield against Falkirk in the SPL.

   Spurs are rumoured to be ready to enter the bidding for Carlos Tevez, with Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid also interested in the on loan Manchester United forward, says the Sun.
   The Daily Mail claims that Marseille striker, Djibril Cisse, currently on loan at Sunderland, has told his team-mates that he will be playing at Tottenham next season.
   Reserve winger David Hutton has joined Cheltenham Town on a one year deal with an option to be extended
.  The 19 year old's contract was up this summer and Spurs were to release him, but manager Martin Allen has nipped in to take the player he had on loan on a permanent basis.

   Ledley King has been arrested following an alleged assault on a doorman outside a West End club causing actual bodily harm at 02:30 a.m. this morning.  The Spurs club captain was released on bail.  Later in the evening, King apologised to manager Harry Redknapp for his behaviour.
   The News of the World reckon that Newcastle United will make Darren Bent their first choice to replace Michael Owen as their main striker at St. James' Park, although Sunderland and Middlesbrough are also in the running for the Spurs forward.  Looks like it might be a difficult choice for Benty to make then, with the winner likely to be the one who stays up.
   The Sunday Express seems to have raked over the week's papers and tells us that Spurs, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Portsmouth are interested in buying troubled midfielder Joey Barton from Newcastle United, although Harry Redknapp might be hoping to get him on a free transfer.
  
Almeria forward Alvaro Negredo is interesting Spurs, Liverpool and Aston Villa, but his former club Real Madrid have first option on him for £5 million, which they must take by the end of June.  If they pass on the option, then he will be up for sale for £10 million after scoring roughly half of the La Liga side's goals this season.
   The Daily Star on Sunday reckons that Tom Huddlestone will stay in the Premier League when he leaves Tottenham in the summer, rather than go to SV Hamburg, who are keen to snap him up with manager Martin Jol knowing him well.
   The same paper claims that Everton in the chase for the Swedish Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Kim Kallstrom, who Spurs are to resurrect an interest in after being linked with him for about six years.

   Honduran Police believe that they have found the remains of Wilson Palacios' brother Edwin, who was kidnapped in 2007.  The player flew home immediately and took no part in the match against Everton today.
   Spurs Under-18s finished their league programme with a 2-0 away win over Birmingham City with goals from Ajet Shehu and Alex Pritchard.
  
Former Spurs reserves Chris Day and Ronnie Henry were both in the FA Trophy winning Stevenage Borough side, who beat York City 2-0 at Wembley today.

   Jamie O'Hara is to have an operation on his knee, thus ruling him out for the rest of the season.
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs have been hit be injuries, which looks like they might decimate the side.  Darren Bent's knee injury rules him out, along with Michael Dawson's ankle injury, but Didier Zokora (groin) and Jamie O'Hara (knee) are also definitely sidelined.  Others who might miss out are Aaron Lennon (groin), David Bentley (hamstring) and Benoit Assou-Ekotto (foot). 
  
EVERTON TEAM NEWS : -  Tony Hibbert is ruled out with a neck injury, while there will be late fitness tests for Lars Jakobsen and Leon Osman.
   Spurs and Everton are being linked with Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen who is set to leave the Nou Camp in the summer.

   The Daily Mirror reveals Harry Redknapp's summer spending plans with Jermaine Jenas heading for Internazionale as Sulley Muntari moves in the opposite direction.  Spurs will also make moves for Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones, Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing and Charlton Athletic's 17 year old midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.  Others leaving Spurs could be Tom Huddlestone, David Bentley, Darren Bent, Gareth Bale, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Didier Zokora according to the article.
   The Sun report that Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies will return to Tottenham to ask to take defender Chris Gunter on loan for the whole of next season.

   Tottenham are being linked with a £9 million move for Lille midfielder Michel Bastos according to the News of the World.
   The NotW also revives the Jermaine Jenas to Internazionale story, probably off the back of his goal in the WBA game yesterday.

   Tottenham's Under-18 side won 4-1 at Spurs Lodge today to set up a chance to win the Premier Academy League title as they need one win out of their two games left

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Jermaine Defoe returns to the Spurs squad after the death of his half brother and Roman Pavlyuchenko is back after his back has recovered.  Fraizer Campbell might also feature, as he is now eligible after being prevented from playing against the club he is on loan from last Saturday.  Darren Bent misses out with his knee injury.
   WEST BROMWICH ALBION TEAM NEWS : -  Abdoulaye Meite is out with a hamstring problem, while Graham Dorrans has a foot injury which might rule him out and James Morrison's knee injury stops him being involved.  Shelton Martis comes into the defence in place of Meite.  .
