The People reports that Spurs and West Ham United are
interested in buying Newcastle United defender Steven
Taylor.
In the same paper, they claim that Harry Redknapp
would like to bring his former West Ham United midfield
protégé Joe Cole to White Hart Lane from Chelsea.
The Sunday Mirror claims that
Spurs have a different midfield target, as Sunderland's
Kieran Richardson will be an £8 million summer target.
The Mirror also reckons that Bolton Wanderers have made a £6
million offer for midfielder Tom Huddlestone, hoping
to beat Fulham and Aston Villa to the signing of the England
Under-21 international.
The Mirror carries the best story of the day by carrying an
article stating that the new prospective owners of
Portsmouth want Harry Redknapp to be their new
manager in a third spell at the Fratton Park club.
In the Mail On Sunday, they go even further, with a list of
players which includes Huddlestone as well as
Didier Zokora, Gareth Bale,
David Bentley, Heurelho Gomes, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Darren
Bent.
Sunderland appear the keenest to take Darren Bent off
Tottenham's hands with a bid in the offing during the summer.
Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry is once more
linked with a move to Spurs, this time in the People, but
they claim he is more likely to go to Manchester City or
Arsenal. The report claims that if Tottenham do
acquire Barry, then it will be the end of Jermaine Jenas'
Spurs career.
Former Spurs defender Colin Calderwood is being
courted by Chesterfield and Hibernian to take over as
manager of the two club's vacant posts.
The Daily Star Sunday has Harry Redknapp is
"seriously" looking at a bid for Liverpool's Ryan Babel.
32 year old FC Porto midfielder Tarik Sektioui
claims that Aston Villa, Spurs and some clubs from the
Persian Gulf have made contact with his agent about signing
him. The Moroccan is available on a free transfer.
On the Sky Sports website, there is a list of fixtures
and the next one for Spurs is an away friendly against
Peterborough United on Tuesday 21st July with the game at
London Road kicking off at 7:45 p.m.
Spurs Under-18s retained their
Monthey International Youth Tournament trophy with a 3-0 win

UEFA Elite qualifying round win over Slovakia at

outbidding them for the Argentinian striker.
This leads the Guardian to believe that Spurs will
concentrate on a move for Sunderland forward Kenwyne
Jones, who said he might leave should the Black Cats be
relegated.
Aston Villa's midfielder Gareth Barry is supposedly a
target for Tottenham according to the Independent.
They also link Spurs with striker Roque Santa Cruz of

The Daily Mail report that Internazionale midfielder
Sulley Muntari will turn down a move to Tottenham.
Spurs will battle with former boss

year old Macedonian striker Goran Pandev their number
one target this summer, with an asking price of £15 million
being quoted.

Roman Pavlyuchenko has apologised to the club's
players, fans and management after going straight down the
tunnel after being substituted in Saturday's match against
Manchester City. The Russian striker said he was
frustrated by his performance and will go away to train at
being sharper in front of goal.
Midfielder Tom Huddlestone had a knee operation

set a new club record of home goals conceded in one season

There is a story on the BBC website that Harry Redknapp
might draft in his son Jamie to do some coaching with
the youth team next season.
After Ledley King's arrest for an alleged assault
after being very, very drunk, Harry Redknapp is set
to impose a booze ban at the club next season.

who had attended the AC Milan v Juventus match at the

Meanwhile, back in this country, Redknapp seems to be
playing down stories linking him with the two Sunderland
strikers. He said on the BBC website that he went for
Kenwyne Jones in January, but now he has signed a new
deal at the Stadium of Light, he is unlikely to pursue his
interest and following the Black Cats forward Djibril
Cisse's claims that Tottenham would be signing him from
his parent club Marseille, Harry didn't specifically say he
wouldn't be buying him, but hinted that there were no bids

Ledley King has been arrested following an alleged
assault on a doorman outside a West End club causing actual
bodily harm at 02:30 a.m. this morning.
The Spurs club captain was released on bail. Later in
the evening, King apologised to manager Harry Redknapp
for his behaviour.
The News of the World reckon that Newcastle United will make
Darren Bent their first choice to replace Michael
Owen as their main striker at St. James' Park, although
Sunderland and Middlesbrough are also in the running for the
Spurs forward. Looks like it might be a difficult
choice for Benty to make then, with the winner likely to be
the one who stays up.
The Sunday Express seems to have raked over the week's
papers and tells us that Spurs, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton
Wanderers and Portsmouth are interested in buying troubled
midfielder Joey Barton from Newcastle United,
although Harry Redknapp might be hoping to get him on
a free transfer.
Almeria forward Alvaro Negredo
is interesting Spurs, Liverpool and Aston Villa, but his
former club Real Madrid have first option on him for £5
million, which they must take by the end of June. If
they pass on the option, then he will be up for sale for £10
million after scoring roughly half of the La Liga side's
goals this season.
The Daily Star on Sunday reckons that Tom Huddlestone
will stay in the Premier League when he leaves Tottenham in
the summer, rather than go to SV Hamburg, who are keen to
snap him up with manager Martin Jol knowing him well.
The same paper claims that Everton in the chase for the
Swedish Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Kim Kallstrom,
who Spurs are to resurrect an interest in after being linked
with him for about six years.

thus ruling him out for the rest of the season.

injuries, which looks like they might decimate the side.
Darren Bent's knee injury rules him out, along with
Michael Dawson's ankle injury, but Didier Zokora
