   Aston Villa keeper Brad Friedel looks like he will be joining Spurs, after they jumped ahead of Liverpool in their race to sign the American keeper on a two year deal.  The report in the Daily Mirror claims Heurelho Gomes will be sold to allow Friedel to take over as the number one goalie at the club, with Carlo Cudicini as back up.
   If Luka Modric is to leave Tottenham, the Daily Mail reckons Spurs will replace him with Milan Badelj of Dinamo Zagreb, with the 22 year old who took Modric's place at his club being rated at £8.5 million.
   The Metro go out on a limb with a story claiming that Manchester United goalkeeper Tomaz Kuszczak will make a move to Germany rather than join Tottenham.
   Former Spurs reserve defender Danny Foster has signed a new two year deal with Wycombe Wanderers.

   The Daily Mail claims that Manchester United will make a £20 million bid for Luka Modric, with former Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov thrown in as a part of the deal
   Barcelona are favourites to sign Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi for £40 million ahead of Tottenham according to the Daily Mirror.
   Internazionale's and Juventus' interest in Gareth Bale will need £50 million to prise him away from White Hart Lane according to the Mirror, but that Spurs will accept £25 million for Luka Modric with Manchester United and Chelsea keen on the Croatian.
   The Mirror also reports that Spurs may spend some of this money they could perhaps receive on Internacional's Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao.


   OTHER NEWS ... Swansea City will be playing in the Premier League next season after beating Reading 4-2 in the Championship Play-off final at Wembley ... Paul Buckle has left Torquay United two days after losing the League Two Play-off final to take over as manager of Bristol Rovers ...

   The Metro reports that Spurs are to be offered Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov back, after he was omitted from the Manchester United Champions League final side and is considered surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
   There was a third place finish for the Spurs Under-18 team in the Copa Amsterdam tournament, after losing 0-1 to hosts Ajax in the semi-final, but with the third/fourth place game finishing 0-0, Tottenham won the penalty shoot out 5-4 against AS Trecin of Slovakia.


   OTHER NEWS ... Peterborough United won promotion to the Championship with a 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town in the League One Play-off final at Old Trafford ...

   Everton are vying with Spurs for the signing of 32 year old Bayern Munich forward Miroslav Klose, who is available on a free transfer.
   The Spurs Under-18 team have qualified for the semi-final of the Copa Amsterdam tournament, with a 0-2 reverse against Botafogo leaving a win needed in the game against Anderlecht, which was decided by a Cameron Lancaster goal.


   OTHER NEWS ... Stevenage beat Torquay United 1-0 at Old Trafford to gain promotion to League One in the League Two Play-off final ...

   The Sun report that Tottenham, Liverpool and Aston Villa will battle for the signing of £10 million Scott Parker of relegated West Ham United.
   Spurs and Arsenal are both willing to pay £26 million for Porto striker Radamel Falcao according his representative reported in the Daily Mirror.
   Meanwhile Napoli president Aurelio di Laurentiis has said to the same paper that he has not received a bid for Ezequiel Lavezzi, the Argentinian striker.
   The Spurs Under-18 team started the Copa Amsterdam tournament with a 1-0 win over Marseille, with Cameron Lancaster the scorer of the only goal of the game.

   Nice touch by Vedran Corluka, who swapped his £36,000 diamond encrusted Hublot watch for a waiter's £150 Seiko at the Whiskey Mist restaurant in Mayfair.
   The Daily Mirror links Birmingham City centre half Scott Dann with a move to Spurs, with Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry also an alleged target for Tottenham.
   The Sun report that Spurs forward Peter Crouch is a target for Sunderland.
   Former Spurs reserve midfielder Mark Hughes has signed a new one year deal with Barnet.

   Jermain Defoe has withdrawn from the England squad to play Switzerland on June 4th in a Euro 2012 qualifier.
   The Daily Mail reports that Heurelho Gomes has asked PSV Eindhoven about a return to the Dutch club.
   Reported in the Daily Mirror are claims that Ruud van Nistelrooy is a target for Spurs as the Dutch striker seems set to leave Hamburg this summer.  Malaga and Blackburn Rovers are also interested in the former Manchester United forward.
   Any move for Scott Parker may be funded by the sale of Jermaine Jenas, with QPR interested in the midfielder according to the Mirror.
   Former Spurs midfielder Andy Reid has been released by Blackpool following their relegation to the Championship.


   OTHER NEWS ... Bradford City have appointed Peter Jackson as their manager on a permanent basis ... 


  MEHSTG's no-spin story ... In a week of shock football revelations, the BBC Football website carries a piece from the Newcastle Evening Chronicle that reads "Former England defender Sol Campbell is leaving Newcastle along with Shefki Kuqi."

   Carlo Cudicini has signed a one year extension on his contract which will keep him at Spurs until the summer of 2012.
   Jamie O'Hara has told the Daily Mirror that he wants to move to Wolverhampton Wanderers on a  permanent basis after enjoying his loan spell there since January.  A deal reportedly worth £4 million is on the table and the midfielder hopes it can be completed in the coming weeks.
   The Mirror also reveals that Galatasaray are ready to outbid Spurs for 33 year old Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.
   Also in the Mirror, they report that Harry Redknapp and Kevin Bond have been out to France to watch Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro, who may cost £12 million.
   Robbie Keane scored twice in the Republic of Ireland's 5-0 win over Northern Ireland in a Nations Cup international tonight.

   Kyle Walker, Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch are all in the England squad to play against Switzerland in the Euro 2012 qualifier on 4th June.
   and ... Kyle Walker and Danny Rose have both been named in the England Under-21 squad to travel to Denmark for the European U-21 Championships this summer.
   Former Spurs defender Phil Ifil has been released by Dagenham & Redbridge.

   Tottenham beat Birmingham City 2-1 at White Hart Lane this afternoon.  For a match report, click here.
   The Sunday People claim that Manchester City are set to make a summer transfer bid for Luka Modric.  However, in the News of the World, they reckon Chelsea and Manchester United will be fighting over the Croatian midfielder.
   Sebastien Bassong's lack of first team opportunities is making promoted QPR monitor his situation.
   Manchester City keeper Shay Given is said to be a target for Harry Redknapp according to the Metro.

   The Metro claims Spurs might offer unsettled Sebastien Bassong to Stoke City in an attempt to bring defender Ryan Shawcross to White Hart Lane.
   The Mirror quotes Harry Redknapp from yesterday's press conference stating that Tottenham are in competition with Arsenal and Liverpool for the transfer of relegated West Ham United's Scott Parker.
   On the TalkSport website, they report that Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea are all chasing 19 year old Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois.  The Daily Star has Chelsea down as making a bid for the talented £5 million rated Genk and Belgium Under-21 youngster.
   The Daily Mail claims Spurs are to move for Porto striker Falcao as Manchester United may try to make Luka Modric their top summer transfer target (not sure I see the link), but the article also goes on to say that Redknapp is keen on Ben Foster of Birmingham City, Maarten Stekelenberg Ajax's keeper, Manchester City's Shay Given and Emmanuel Adebayor, Lille striker Eden Hazard, Didier Drogba (Chelsea) and Espanyol's Argentinian forward Pablo Osvaldo.  I don't think they missed anyone did they ?
   The Daily Mail reckon PSV Eindhoven might offer Heurelho Gomes a chance to resurrect a career hit by journalists criticism of his mistakes for Tottenham by making a £4 million bid for the player they sold to Tottenham for £7.8 million three years ago.

   OTHER NEWS ... somewhat unsurprisingly, Alex Ferguson has been voted Premier League Manager of the Year and Nemanja Vidic the Premier League Player of the Year ... AFC Wimbledon will be playing League football after winning the Conference Premier play-off 4-3 on penalties against Luton Town after a 0-0 draw after extra time ...

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -   Spurs might be missing Rafael van der Vaart, who has a calf injury, but Jermaine Jenas, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Tom Huddlestone and William Gallas all have a chance of playing against Birmingham.  Still out are Jonathan Woodgate (groin), Bongani Khumalo (foot) and Gareth Bale (ankle) are all ruled out.  Steven Pienaar is doubtful with a groin strain, while Heurelho Gomes has been training again after picking up a bad back.
   BIRMINGHAM CITY TEAM NEWS : -  The visitors could be without
Nikola Zigic (knee), Martin Taylor (shoulder), Scott Dann (hamstring), Obafemi Martins (groin), Enric Valles (ankle), James McFadden (knee) and Alexandre Hleb (knee), while Lee Bowyer (hamstring), Martin Jiranek (ankle) and Stuart Parnaby (groin) are all doubtful for the meeting with Spurs at White Hart Lane David Bentley cannot play for the Blues, as he is on loan from THFC.

   Tim Sherwood told the Daily Mirror that Spurs do not want to let unsettled striker Jermain Defoe leave and that they could probably not afford the wages that Chelsea striker Didier Drogba would want if they were to sign him, as rumours are suggesting.
   Sherwood also suggested that if Spurs do qualify for the Europa League, it could be used as an exercise to field a team containing up and coming players.  See here for the debate on how the Europa League might be viewed if qualification is achieved on Sunday.
   The Metro runs a story that hints that while Spurs are showing the keenest interest in Lille's Gervinho, Manchester City and Arsenal could be set to step into the race for the Ivory Coast striker.

   TalkSport's website today links Tottenham with a move for Hertha Berlin's German Under-21 striker Pierre-Michel Lassoga.
   The Daily Express claims that Harry Redknapp is keen on Chelsea's 33 year old Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba.
   Meanwhile, in the Daily Mail, they reckons Spurs might offload Jermain Defoe to raise cash for an £8 million bid for Birmingham City keeper Ben Foster.
   The Daily Mirror runs a story saying that Spurs are in competition with Atletico Madrid for the Espanyol striker Pablo Osvaldo, who might cost £14 million.
   Tottenham, along with Liverpool, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Juventus are interested in Wigan Athletic winger Charles N'Zogbia.
   Spurs Legends are in action again this Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff against Letchworth Garden City Eagles at

   It seems like silly season has started with the transfer talk.  Firstly, TalkSport's website reckons that AC Milan will make a move for Tottenham midfielder Sandro by offering money plus 30 year old former Gooner Mathieu Flamini, who perpetrated a highly dangerous tackle on Vedran Corluka in the Champions League game at the San Siro.
   Secondly, the Metro make a story with no discernable facts about Harry Redknapp telling players of offers received for them and this somehow mutated into Spurs letting Gareth Bale go if they received a £40 million bid from Manchester City for the Welsh wing back.  Obviously, there is little going on at the moment and imagination is running wild.
   Tottenham's Academy side drew 0-0 in a friendly with the Rwanda Under-17 team at Spurs Lodge today.


   OTHER NEWS ... FC Porto won the Europa League with a 1-0 win over fellow Portuguese side Sporting Braga in Dublin tonight ...

   Spurs are reported in the Daily Telegraph to be in for the signature of Scott Parker along with Manchester City and Arsenal, as the 30 year old West Ham United midfielder could be one of the first out of the relegated club.
   Harry Redknapp took a trip to watch Lille in the French Cup final this weekend and was believed by the Metro to be watching strikers Gervinho and Eden Hazard.

   CRIME WATCH ... Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean was stopped for drink driving on Sunday after his team drew with Manchester United ... Police were called to a top West End hotel were bottom of the league West Ham United were holding their end of season party, when trouble started as striker Demba Ba refused to sign autographs for supporters as he was "too tired" ...

   Tottenham beat Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield this afternoon.  For a match report click here.
   Spurs are being linked with a move for veteran Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel, who is out of contract in the summer.  Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion are both watching the situation according to the Sunday Mirror and they claim Villa may yet offer the American stopper a new deal.


   OTHER NEWS ... West Ham United manager Avram Grant was sacked after their 2-3 defeat at Wigan Athletic that sees the East End club drop into the Championship ...

   Tottenham are linked with a move for French Under-21 midfielder Eliaquim Mangala, who plays for Standard Liege.  Rated at £4 million, he is also interesting Arsenal, Lille and Paris St. Germain, but Spurs might make the first move for the athletic midfielder.
   The TalkSport website claims that Porto striker Hulk had set Newcastle United, Tottenham and Liverpool on alert, as he said he would like to come to the Premier League, but later in the day it was revealed that Porto had bought 40% of the Brazilian's rights and signed him up on a four year deal.


   OTHER NEWS ... Manchester United's draw today gave them their 19th top flight title ... and Manchester City win the FA Cup by beating Stoke City 1-0 ... Barnsley have clarified the situation over the manager's position at club stating that Mark Robins has not been sacked but has been given 12 months notice that his services are no longer required ...

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Tottenham's injury list grows by the day with William Gallas (calf) joining Jonathan Woodgate (groin), Wilson Palacios (knee), Alan Hutton (knee), Benoit Assou-Ekotto (hamstring), Bongani Khumalo (foot), Gareth Bale (ankle), Jermaine Jenas (thigh) and Heurelho Gomes (back) out of Sunday's match against Liverpool.  Luka Modric (hip) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) are both doubtful, but after playing a Spurs XI match in midweek, Ledley King could feature in the penultimate Premier League match at Anfield.
   LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS : -   Striker Andy Carroll is doubtful with a knee injury, but Raul Meireles is expected to be fit after tweaking a hamstring in midweek.  Definitely out of the match are Milan Jovanovic (knee), Fabio Aurelio (ankle), Steven Gerrard (groin), Daniel Agger (knee) and Martin Kelly (hamstring).
   The Times claims that Harry Redknapp has made a second trip to Spain to watch Espanyol striker Daniel Osvaldo.
   Hamburg's Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has intimated that he would welcome a return to the Premier League and Spurs and Blackburn Rovers are said to be interested according to the Daily Mail.
   The Daily Mirror report on a BBC interview in which Emmaneul Adebayor said he was due to join Tottenham before his loan form Manchester City to Real Madrid and would be happy to come to N17 even though the Tottenham supporters were criticised for singing songs of a racist nature about him at the Champions League quarter final first leg tie.  UEFA did not charge the club because of those songs.
   TalkSport reckon that Ajax Keeper Maarten Stekelenburg is wanted by Manchester United and Tottenham, but they may be beaten to his signature by Schalke.
   Roman Pavlyuchenko is a summer target for Sunderland it is reported in the Daily Mail.
   The Times state that QPR manager Neil Warnock could be aiming to sign Robbie Keane from Tottenham.
   AS Roma are interested in Sandro according to the Sky Sports News website.


   OTHER NEWS ... Micky Adams has returned to Vale Park as manager of Port Vale ... Jim Bentley will be Morecombe's player-manager next season ...

   The Independent claims Spurs are willing to clear the decks in the summer with possibly up to nine squad players who will be sold.  The report says that if they get suitable offers, the players will be sold and these are David Bentley, Jamie O'Hara, Robbie Keane, Giovani dos Santos, Alan Hutton, Vedran Corluka, Niko Kranjcar, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Wilson Palacios.  In addition, Jonathan Woodgate and Carlo Cudicini are both out of contract in the summer and are not likely to be offered new deals by the club.

   A Spurs XI featuring Ledley King and Sebastien Bassong beat a West Ham United XI 3-2 at Spurs Lodge after falling 0-2 behind within two minutes.  Tottenham's goals came from Harry Kane 2 and Paul-Jose M'Poku.
   Harry Kane was last night named as the Spurs Scholar of the Year.
   The Daily Mirror claims that Spurs will make a move for Birmingham City goalkeeper Ben Foster in the summer and that striker Jermain Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko could both be sold.
   Former Spurs centre half Anthony Gardner has been released by Hull City.
   Former Tottenham defender Clayton Fortune will not be offered a new deal at Aldershot Town.
   Former Spurs defenders Jamie Clapham and Cian Hughton have been released by Lincoln City following their relegation to the Conference.
   Ex-Spurs reserve keeper Lee Butcher has signed a new two year deal with Leyton Orient.

   The Club have applied to the High Court to bring a second judicial review - this time of the decisions made in awarding the tenancy of the Olympic Stadium at Stratford to West Ham United and will be asking questions of the Mayor of London, the Olympic Park Legacy Company, the Minister of Sport and the Minister for Communities and Local Government.
   Gareth Bale will miss the remainder of this season and only be ready to return to the pitch in pre-season training after Blackpool's Charlie Adam trod on his ankle and the Welshman sustained ligament damage.
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  In addition to being without
Jonathan Woodgate (groin), Wilson Palacios (knee), Ledley King (groin), Alan Hutton (knee), Benoit Assou-Ekotto (hamstring), Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Bongani Khumalo (foot) Tottenham also have doubts over the fitness of Jermaine Jenas (thigh), Peter Crouch (back) and Luka Modric (hip).
   MANCHESTER CITY TEAM NEWS : -  Jerome Boateng (knee), Kolo Toure (suspended for positive drugs test),
Shay Given (shoulder); Michael Johnson (knee), Pablo Zabaleta (??), Kolo Toure (out - drug use), Carlos Tevez is doubtful with a hamstring strain, but Micah Richards and Gareth Barry should both be fit after overcoming hamstring problems.

   Tottenham are to play a pre-season friendly at the new Brighton and Hove Albion ground on Saturday 30th July with a 3:00 p.m. kick off.
   Spurs are among a host of clubs from across Europe who have had FC Copenhagen's young centre half Mathias Jorgensen watched recently.  The 21 year old has impressed with his assured displays and it is thought by Sky Sports.

   The Metro claims Spurs are planning a swoop for Newcastle United midfield destroyer Chiek Tiote and hope to be more successful than in January, with Wilson Palacios thrown into the deal.  The Magpies are seeking £8 million to go with Tottenham's Honduran midfielder to seal the transfer.
  The People reckon that Harry Redknapp might sell Rafael van der Vaart in the summer for the right price, as his lack of mobility is hampering the team scoring goals, with only one striker effectively being deployed up front.
   The Spurs Legends beat the KNI Foundation 4-3 today at Ware FC's Wodson Park ground.

   Tottenham drew 1-1 with Blackpool at White Hart Lane today.  For a match report click here.
   Gareth Bale was injured by a Charlie Adam tackle in today's game and he will have a scan on possible ligament damage.
   The Metro links Spurs with moves for West Ham United's Scott Parker and Demba Ba should the Irons be relegated at the end of the season.  Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested in Parker, while Chelsea, Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Aston Villa are watching the Senegal striker's situation.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs will be without Vedran Corluka (hamstring), Tom Huddlestone (ankle), Bongani Khumalo (foot), Benoit Assou-Ekotto (hamstring), Ledley King (groin), Wilson Palacios (knee), Jonathan Woodgate (groin) and Alan Hutton (knee) as they shape up to face Blackpool tomorrow.

   Tottenham have been linked with Lille striker Gervinho, who is also interesting Arsenal as he has turned down a new contract at the French club.  The Ivory Coast international would be available for £10.5 million says TalkSport's website.
   22 year old Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero has hinted he might wish to move to the Premier League it is claimed in the Daily Mirror.  His agent said that the £40 million rated forward would look at his future in the summer.
   The Telegraph runs a piece saying that Niko Kranjcar or Giovani dos Santos could be used in a deal to bring Diego Perotti of Sevilla to White Hart Lane. Rated at around £13 million, the Argentina born winger has dual Spanish nationality.

   The Spurs Legends are playing a charity match at Ware FC, Wodson Park, Ware, Herts SG12 0UQ on Sunday with a 14:00 kick off as they play to raise cash for the KNI Foundation.  Entrance fee is £5, with Under-12 admitted free.

   Spanish club Sevilla are interested in buying Roman Pavlyuchenko in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.
   The Mail also reckon that Spurs are trying to nip ahead of Chelsea to sign two 15 year old Vitesse Arnhem players - Issa Kallon and Tristan Berghuis.
   TalkSport reckon that Spurs had looked at bringing Freddie Kanoute back to the club as he is about to leave Sevilla this summer, but he has no desire to come back and play in the Premier League.
   The Sun claims Spurs will bid £500,000 for Ipswich Town's Canadian youngster Caolan Lavery, who impressed in a recent Under-18 game in which he scored the Tractor Boys' goal.
   The Spurs Under-18 team finished their season with a win over Leicester City at Spurs Lodge with John Bostock's goal settling the match.

   Kyle Naughton, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose have all been included in the England Under-21 squad for the European Championship finals in Denmark in the summer.
   Tottenham are being linked with a move for Sao Paulo midfielder Carlos Henrique Casimiro, who is also interesting Juventus and would cost £5 million claim The Sun .
   The Sun also reports that Lazio, Juventus and AS Roma are all interested in signing Niko Kranjcar.
   Ben Foster has told the Sun that he wants to stay at Birmingham City despite reports linking him with Arsenal and Spurs.

   Tottenham and Manchester City will battle it out for the services of Scott Parker in the summer according to the Sunday Mirror, with a £10 million fee expected if West Ham United are relegated.  The England midfielder was shown on Sky TV yesterday watching the Chelsea v Spurs match at Stamford Bridge sitting with Jamie Redknapp.
   The paper claims that one of Harry Redknapp's former players is another target, with Joe Cole being targeted after turning down a move to Tottenham in favour of Liverpool last summer.
