The club today made an application to the Regional Growth Fund for money to provide infrastructure and enabling works for the Northumberland Park Development to go ahead.  The Fund can give funding for projects which will provide private sector jobs and with the ground sitting in one of the most deprived areas of the country it is hoped that the fact that Spurs wanting to grow as a private company in an area where unemployment is high will persuade the organisation to provide the money that will help with restoring historic buildings, improvements to stations, construct a combined heating and cooling plant and provide training and employment opportunities.
Tottenham are interested in signing Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Llorente, who would cost about £20 million, but Harry Redknapp has been told he must sell two of his strikers to do so, it is reported in the Daily Mirror.
Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi's move to Barcelona may have fallen through according to a piece in the Daily Mail and this might revitalise Tottenham's interest in the £35 million rated forward.
The Mail also says that Niko Kranjcar's agent has said that there is interest from Fiorentina and Dynamo Kiev, but Spurs are not making any move to sell the Croatian midfielder yet.
The Sun claim that Leicester City want to sign central defender Jonathan Woodgate.
Central defender Steven Caulker has been signed by Swansea City on a season long loan.
The draw for the NextGen European youth league has put Tottenham in a group with Internazionale, FC Basel of Switzerland and PSV Eindhoven.  Teams will play each other home and away, with the finals for the top two teams in each of the four groups playing off in January, with the matches perhaps to be staged in Abu Dhabi.
