The
Daily Mirror today links former Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle with a return
to SCBC as Director of Football, but hints that if Steve Wigley does
not get success with the team, Hoddle will be asked to step into the
manager's job.
The
article also claims that the New Dell will welcome Fredi Kanoute as a
sop to deflect any fan reaction to the return of Hoddle, who left
under acrimonious circumstances to take over at Tottenham. The
piece quotes a price of £8 million and the move is said to be on,
whether James Beattie leaves or not. Funnily enough, £8 million
is what SCBC are asking for Beattie, so is a swap on the cards ??
Kanoute
does seem to be in demand at the moment, as AS Monaco are also after
the Spurs striker. They are desperately seeking a forward and
although they have identified Kanoute as an option may get knocked
back in any attempt to sign him. The French side might now move
for Barcelona's Javier Saviola on a loan deal.

Joe

said he had talked at length with Chris Hughton and seemed optimistic
that some deal could be done. Maybe Jacko will be the

Spurs

Michael
Carrick completed his move to Tottenham for a fee between £2.5
million and £3.5 million. The former West Ham United midfielder
said he is looking forward to the new challenge after his first
transfer and hoped that his career will move on now that he is back in
the Premier League. Carrick said he was impressed by the squad
assembled at the Lane and new a lot of the players and the area, so it
would not be a big upheaval for him, but most of all he was looking to
learn more form the new set-up with Spurs management and their
training techniques to push himself into the England squad like some
of his new colleagues. Having had the interest by Arsenal
terminated, he says in the London Evening Standard that he wants to

today with his German club Bayern Munich making a statement that one
Premier League club has sent their manager to make a solid bid for the
player. Spurs are believed to want to pay around £5 million,
while Munich are seeking £8 million for the 23 year old midfielder,
according tot he London Evening Standard. The deal for
Hargreaves to move to whichever English club it is, will likely taker
place next week.
Today's
Guardian newspaper claims that Spurs are to make a bid to sign Real
Madrid's Portuguese midfielder Luis Figo.
Michael
Brown has explained that he turned down a better financial package
offered by Glasgow Rangers to join Spurs. The midfielder said
that the strength of the Premier League makes it the only place to be
and although his move was never about money, he wanted to be pitched
in against the world's biggest stars, who invariably come to England
rather than Scotland.
Rumoured
Spurs transfer target Michael Carrick has had talks about a transfer
to West Bromwich Albion.
Everton
might be the lucky benefactors of Dagui Bakari not accepting
Tottenham's 3 month loan deal. The frankly disappointing Ivory
Coast striker felt he would rather see out his contract at Lens, but
now David Moyes might snap him up to "strengthen" the
Merseyside club's forward line.
Ex-Spurs

to move to Newcastle United, as he was not being tested at Tottenham.

The
London Evening Standard claim that Tottenham have sent Frank Arnesen
out to Germany to discuss a £7 million transfer for Owen Hargreaves.
The England midfielder has said that he wants to move to England,
where his family hail from, but he was expected to go to Arsenal until
Bayern put a £7 million price on his head. However, with money
available from the sale of Vieira and the need for a replacement, do
not be surprised if the Gooners re-enter the chase for the 23 year
old.
Tottenham

£2m deal according to The Sun, but the Times report that Spurs have

Spurs

Spurs
have agreed a £2 million fee with Newcastle United for Stephen Carr.
The right back had one year left on his contract and although Frank
Arnesen said he did not want to lose the player, he respected his
decision to move on. Carr will complete his medical and sign
within the next 48 hours.
Reports
that Spurs have been in negotiations with Danny Murphy today proved to
be true, but those discussions broke down, with the official site
announcing that the player wanted a guaranteed first team place, which
it appears Spurs would not give him.
It
has been reported today that Spurs made two bids last week for
Manchester City's pacy winger Shaun Wright-Phillips. An initial
£.5 million offer was knocked back and Spurs returned with a £5.5
million bid, which was also rejected. Manchester City have once
more come out and said they do not wish to sell the player, but with
large debts and Wright-Phillips not yet signing an extension to his
contract, the move might come about should they need the cash.
Tottenham
are being linked with a move for Juventus' Croatian central defender
or midfielder Igor Tudor. The 26 year old has been hit with
injury, but played for his country at Euro 2004 and is seen as the
ideal partner to play alongside Ledley King. Reports in Italy
claim that the player is heading for the Premier League, but the two
clubs do not appear to have agreed a fee according to Sky Sports
website.

Spurs
have had a near £3 million offer for Liverpool midfielder Danny
Murphy accepted. Charlton Athletic and Everton are both
interested in the 27 year old England man and it is rumoured in the
News of the World that he might prefer a move to Everton if they can
come up with the money. This might indicate that he is not the
most ambitious of players. The Sunday Mirror claims the move
will go through this week at £2.5 million.
The
fee for Thimothee Atouba is said to be nearer £1.5 million in today's
press.
Shaun
Wright-Phillips is to be the subject of a £6 million bid by Spurs the
Sunday People claims, while the Sunday Mirror say that he will reject
a new deal if the club cannot satisfy him of their ambition.
Kevin Keegan has come out and said that the winger is integral to

who is believed to be available for around £2.5 million, according to
