Depending on which Sunday paper you read either Martin Jol has three games to save his job (Sunday Mirror) or he is a s safe as houses and has a grovelling apology courtesy of director Paul Kemsley ringing in his ears) News of the World).  The People say that the meeting in Spain last week saw Kemsley and club secretary John Alexander spend five hours listening to Juande Ramos spelling out how he intended to revolutionise Tottenham into contenders at home and abroad.  So impressed does the People reckon they were that they offered him a five year deal to take over at Spurs.  Any such offer has since been denied by the club.
Behind the scenes, the News of the World also reveals in their interview with Kemsley (from his yacht in the South of France ... and him a man who said he ahs had a season ticket since he was seven ... so what is he doing in the South of France when the club he is a director of has a game against Manchester United ??) that he has no intention of joining forces with his big mate Mike Ashley, who bought out Newcastle United a couple of months back, to take over at Tottenham.  But once more, other papers differ in what will happen in the boardroom.  The Sunday People run a story that Jurgen Klinsmann is to be lined up to front an American bid to buy Spurs and he will clear out the existing management structure as he takes control of running the whole club, while the News of the World claim that the former German manager is wanted by LA Galaxy to manage David Beckham and his team-mates.
On the playing side, Leicester City are believed to be preparing a 1.5 million offer for midfielder Danny Murphy, the News of the World reckons, while they also claim that Spurs are ready to go to 10 million to solve the left side of midfield issue by bidding for Blackburn Rovers' Norwegian winger Morten Gamst Pedersen.  The People claim that Tottenham and Everton are battling to sign Plymouth Argyle's talented youngster Dan Gosling.

It appears that the story that the Tottenham Hotspur manager's post might be up for grabs ... which it isn't ... has attracted some of the big guns of European club management to show an interest.  Or it would be if you believe the newspapers.  The latest manager who is supposed to be ready to jump into Martin Jol's seat is Fabio Capello, who flew into London for a three hour meeting at lunch-time yesterday.  Only, it wasn't about the Tottenham manager's job and he met nobody from Tottenham.  So what does 2+2 equal again ???
Dimitar Berbatov's agent claims that Manchester United are interested in signing the Bulgarian forward and that Daniel Levy has told him they will have a meeting in the next few days to decide the striker's future.  Manchester United have said they did not make an offer for the Tottenham man.  Aston Villa are considering a 15 million bid to further reduce the Spurs strike-force by targeting Jermain Defoe.
Gareth Bale could make his debut for Spurs after playing a half of a game for Wales in midweek.  Michael Dawson is still ruled out, but Berbatov might be fit to return, although Darren Bent will still be absent with a thigh muscle tear.  Teemu Tainio also returns to the side after a run out in Finland's friendly international in midweek.
MANCHESTER UNITED TEAM NEWS : -  Club captain Gary Neville will be sidelined for two more weeks with a thigh injury, but Edwin van der Sar returns in goal and Louis Saha has made enough progress to be a substitute.  Brazilian signing Anderson could be ready for his first competitive game for United in midfield.

It is days before a match with Manchester United, so guess what story hit the news today ?  Yes, United make a 21 million bid to take Dimitar Berbatov to Old Trafford.  Designed to unsettle Spurs ?  Surely not.  And then, just for jolly, Real Madrid join the party and put in a reported 20 million offer.  Tottenham are reported to want 40 million.
Daniel Levy has made a statement in a question and answer session on the Spurs site to say that he is 100% behind Martin Jol and that there was never any intention to replace him as Head Coach.  Levy also said that their meeting cleared the air about a number of matters and there is no insistence that Jol has to take Tottenham into the top four, but that is the club's aim, with the last six years ebbing a better indication of the progress made at Spurs rather than the last three games.
Paul Robinson has slammed the Spurs board for making moves to replace Martin Jol after all he has done over the last two years.  The keeper said that the Head Coach had the full backing of the players and he was backed up by Darren Bent's comments that he was the reason he chose Spurs over other options he had in the summer.
Juande Ramos has now back-tracked and said that his words were misinterpreted in that he hinted the money English clubs
offer is "dizzying", but apologised if he had led people to think he had been offered the job of manager at Tottenham.

Claim and counter claim about Juande Ramos' right to the Tottenham hot-seat have followed today.  First Ramos claimed Tottenham had made him a "dizzying" offer, believed to be 3  million for a three year contract, but he turned it down as he is contracted to Sevilla and he wishes to see that out.  Then the club issued a brief statement on their website saying that the truth is told there and that they had never offered the job to anyone while Martin Jol has been head coach.  Stories have been run in the media that Jol will have a 4 million pay-off if he is forced out of his post.  The subject is looking like it will run and run ... unfortunately, as it does the club no credit at all.

The Sun have a story claiming that West Bromwich Albion have put a 10 million price on Curtis Davies' head ... no doubt prompted by Tottenham's injury crisis in the middle of their defence.  Good player though he is, it is far too much money to spend out on him.  But, hey, I wouldn't have spent 6 million on Mido, so what do I know ??  More interestingly, it is said that Jol is looking at bringing talented Dutch midfielder Raphael van der Vaart to White Hart Lane.  Will this spell the end for Ghaly ??
