  TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Michael Dawson has been named in the Tottenham squad for the match with Charlton.
  CHARLTON ATHLETIC TEAM NEWS : -  Although Dean Kiely made his comeback in the reserves this week after suffering a broken finger, Stephan Andersen is likely to keep his place in the team.  Darren Ambrose and Jay Bothroyd are both out injured, while Jason Euell is still missing having dislocated his shoulder.

  MEHSTG's spin story ... Roy Keane has said that Manchester United are unlikely to keep him on and he will look for a team outside of England to play for next season.  This is not because he cannot face playing against his old side, but because he has upset so many player sin the English league that there are few clubs who would take him.

  Ricardo Moniz has arrived at White hart Lane from PSV Eindhoven as Damien Comolli's first capture as the club skills trainer.  Let's hope that we see a more skillful Spurs side and a more effective one because of it.
  Jermaine Jenas was in the London nightclub "Funky Buddha" last night, when an incident resulting in a man being stabbed to death took place.  There is no link with Jenas and the incident.
  Reserve goalkeeper Rob Burch has extended his loan at Bristol City into a second month.
  TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : - Both Michael Carrick and Michael Dawson look likely to miss Saturday's clash at the Valley with Charlton Athletic.
  Peter Taylor's latest England Under-21 squad contains three Spurs players ... Michael Dawson, Calum Davenport and Tom Huddlestone.

  The Daily Mirror claims that Ledley King will be offered the opportunity to sign a new five year contract worth £13 million to deter interest from other clubs who might want to buy the Spurs captain.
  Aaron Lennon has praised Edgar Davids for helping him with extra training that has improved his game since his promotion to the first team.  As an indicator of his progress, Aaron has been called up to the England Under-20 squad for the friendly against Holland on 9th October.
  ITV Teletext is reporting that Tottenham are ready to announce the appointment of appoint PSV Eindhoven coach Ricardo Moniz to the club's coaching staff.  The Dutch press are reporting that Martin Jol is looking to bring in Moniz to coach the first and youth teams, as he has currently been working as PSV's under 19 coach and overseeing their Academy.

  The Daily Star reckons Everton will make a £5.5 million bid for Robbie Keane in the January transfer window.
  Ledley King has said he will sign a long term contract at Spurs, as long as the club match his ambitions state the Sunday Mirror.  However, the comments featured on the Sky Sports website make his signature on the deal seem more likely ... 
"I've left the contract talks with my agent, but if the club's moving in the right direction, like I feel it is, then I haven't got a problem," said King. "People are saying good things about the club, we're moving in the right direction, we've got a lot of talented young players and it's a nice place to be at the moment."
  TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : - Edgar Davids (groin), Teemu Tainio and Michael Dawson (both hamstring) are all injury worries for Martin Jol as Spurs get ready to face Fulham .

  Martin Jol has vowed to play the game in line with the traditions laid down before him by Bill Nicholson.  The Spurs Head Coach told the media that he believed that the team is there to entertain the crowds not just for themselves, words written by the legendary Spurs manager who died last year.

  TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : - Anthony Gardner's thigh muscle tear will keep him out for a couple of months at least, while the same length of time on the sidelines is likely for Wayne Routledge's foot injury.  Noe Pamarot is expected to be back in training soon as he recovers from his knee injury and also missing will be Michael Dawson, who has a hamstring pull.  Mido is available for selection again after serving his three match suspension.
  FULHAM TEAM NEWS : - The Cottagers have no new injury problems as they approach this London derby.
  Spurs Under-18s lost away to Cardiff City 1-3 in the FA Premier Academy League today.  Stuart Lewis scored the Tottenham goal.

  MEHSTG's no-spin story ... Perhaps Phil Neville is not such a bad sort after all, after his comments following Everton's game against Arsenal ... "People said I deliberately went out to target Reyes. I have seen the video and I made two tackles on him. Two tackles on a world-class player. I think they must have it written in their contract that you can't tackle them.  Arsene Wenger will defend his players but there also has to be a bit of honesty. Look at Arsenal's disciplinary record - that suggests the problem lies within."

  The Sun reveal that Martin Jol launched into a four letter word tirade at the Spurs team after losing to Grimsby Town.  That will be him and Spurs fans at the match and those at home watching on TV too then !!
  Mallorca striker Juan Arango said that he could have signed for Tottenham in the summer, but there was no concrete follow-up to the £2.1 million offer for the 25 year old Venezuelan forward, so he signed a new deal with the La Liga club.

  Captain Ledley King and Head Coach Martin Jol have apologised to Spurs fans for the performance at Grimsby Town last night.
  Michael Carrick will be ruled out for two weeks with an ankle injury he picked up in last night's League Cup tie.
  However, Martin Jol revealed that Edgar Davids should be fit for the Fulham match on Monday.
  Sky Sports are looking for die-hard Spurs fans who might be willing to travel to Newcastle United's ground to watch the re-match of "The Match" ... a celebrity side who will play against a team of ex-professionals.  Ex-Spurs featuring will be Paul Gascoigne and Chris Waddle.  The game takes place on Sunday October 9th with the kick-off at 20.15 p.m.  Anyone who is interested in going and being interviewed as part of the show should contact MEHSTG at mehstg@blueyonder.co.uk and we will forward your details on to the production team.

  Spurs lost 0-1 to Grimsby Town in the Carling Cup Second Round at Blundell Park tonight.  Click here for a match report.  For reaction, click here.
  Mido was cleared of improper conduct by the FA today, following a personal hearing to the charge brought for him not leaving the field against Chelsea after getting sent off.  He will complete his three match ban and be free to play against Fulham on Monday now.
  The Daily Mail claims that Ledley King is being targeted for a holding role in the England midfield in their next World Cup qualifiers.
  Edgar Davids has been selected for Holland's squad to play two World Cup qualifiers next month against Macedonia and the Czech Republic.
  Midfielder Sean Davis has apparently turned down a loan deal to go to SCBC.

  Spurs Under-18s beat Fulham 3-0 at Spurs Lodge this morning with goals from Claude Seanla 2 and Radwan Hamed.

  Reserve midfielder John Jackson and striker Mounir El Hamdaoui have joined Derby County on three-month loan deals.

  ASTON VILLA TEAM NEWS : - Gavin McCann looks likely to miss out after having an operation on his knee.  
  Martin Jol has reiterated that Reto Ziegler has a future at the club, but he needs first team football and with Reid and Davids to cover the left side of midfield, it was thought better for his development to have a year in the Bundesliga with Hamburg.

  Derby County manager Phil Brown (formerly of Bolton Wanderers) feels Spurs paid over the top for Grzegorz Rasiak at £2 million, saying he didn't look as good a a player as he did last season.
  Spurs Reserves beat Fulham 2-0 at Stevenage Borough FC tonight.  Mounir El Hamdaoui and Lee Barnard scored the Spurs goals.
  Calum Davenport has been allowed to leave for a three month loan spell at Norwich City.
  Paul Ifil has been allowed to leave the club for a three month loan spell at Millwall.

  TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : - Spurs welcome back captain Ledley King to the squad after his return to fitness.  He may not start the game though, with Anthony Gardner being preferred to counter the aerial threat from Peter Crouch.  Jermaine Jenas, Grzegorz Rasiak and Lee Young-Pyo are all in the squad, with Rasiak and Lee the most likely to start the match.  Mido is suspended after being sent off against Chelsea.
  LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS : - Peter Crouch looks set to start up front  alongside Djibril Cisse, with Fernando Morientes out for a few weeks.  Djimi Traore returns from injury and may make the bench.

  Martin Jol has said that Aaron Lennon could be a secret weapon for Spurs while Wayne Routledge is out injured.  This could be a hint that the former Leeds United winger might play against Liverpool on Saturday to give the side some width.

  Former St. Etienne Technical Director Damien Comolli has been appointed as the new Sporting Director at Tottenham Hotspur.  The 33-year old said he was excited about joining Spurs and taking up the role in charge of the medical, academy, scouting and secretarial sections of the club.  Comolli was formerly a scout for Arsenal and is a friend of Arsene Wenger.  Martin Jol said that the new Sporting Director had a great network of scouting contacts in Europe and all over the world.  Previously, Comolli had been the Technical Director at St. Etienne for one year and left in June.
  Paul Robinson played the whole of England's 0-1 defeat to Northern Ireland in Belfast tonight and Jermain Defoe was a 67th minute substitute.
  Teemu Tainio played until the 83rd minute of Finland's 5-1 win over Macedonia in the World Cup qualifying match tonight.
  Grzegorz Rasiak played 65 minutes of Poland's 1-0 win over Wales in their World Cup qualifier.
  Andy Reid hit a post for the Republic of Ireland in their 0-1 defeat by France at Lansdowne Road tonight in their World Cup qualifying match.  Robbie Keane also played the whole game for his country.
  Former Spurs keeper and manager Ray Clemence celebrated his 100th game as an England coach tonight.

  The Daily Mirror are starting the January Sales rumours, with one saying that Spurs and Newcastle United might bid for Chelsea left back Wayne Bridge in the next transfer window.
  Michael Dawson played for England Under-21s against Germany in a 1-1 away draw.  Calum Davenport was an unused substitute on the night.
  Stephen Kelly was in the Republic of Ireland Under-21 side that lost 1-2 to France in Cork tonight.
  A Spurs XI beat Bishops Stortford 6-4 at Woodside Park tonight.

  Paul Robinson's house was burgled on Sunday night and thieves took some jewellery and other small items.
  Clive Allen will be taking a Spurs XI (mainly reserve team) to Bishops Stortford for a friendly on Tuesday 6th September.  The match will kick off at 19.45 p.m.  Entry will cost £10 (adults) and £7 (children under 16 and OAPs).

  The People claim that Tottenham nearly signed West Bromwich Albion and ex-Arsenal forward Kanu before the transfer deadline.  Good job we saw sense and turned our attention to getting Rasiak then !!
  The Daily Star on Sunday reckons Everton will be back in January with a third bid for Robbie Keane.
  Erik Edman is reported to have said that players joining Tottenham will find it hard to establish themselves in the first team, because of the large number of players in the squad who have to be kept happy.

  OTHER NEWS ... Liverpool and Leeds United may face a transfer ban and a fine for using an unlicensed agent in the deal that took Harry Kewell from Elland Road to Anfield ... Arsenal might face a transfer embargo and a huge points deduction, after Marseille have complained to the Court of Arbitration for Sport about the Gooners not having paid a suitable compensation fee for Mathieu Flamini.  They might have to hand back all the points they won last season when he was in the side !! ...

  Paul Robinson played the whole of England's 1-0 win over Wales at the Millennium Stadium Cardiff this afternoon, while Jermain Defoe came on as a 68th minute substitute.
  New signing Grzegorz Rasiak played 90 minutes in Poland's 3-2 win over Austria in European Group 6 of the World Cup qualifiers.  It was his header that set up the second Polish goal.
  Teemu Tainio played for Finland in their 0-0 World Cup qualifying draw away to Andorra.
  The Daily Mirror runs a story claiming that Daniel Levy will require Martin Jol to reduce the size of the Tottenham squad in the winter transfer window, with Robbie Keane and Andy Reid named as the two star players who might be on their way out of the club.
  Spurs Under-18s drew 1-1 with Millwall, with Simon Dawkins scoring for Tottenham.

  Squad numbers have been allocated for the new signings.  Jermaine Jenas will wear number 28 on his shirt, Grzegorz Rasiak will be number 9 and number 16 has been given to Lee Young-Pyo.
  Deportivo La Coruna announced that they turned down a transfer deadline day offer of £6 million from Tottenham for their striker Diego Tristan.
  Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has ruled out a move for Spurs midfielder Michael Brown.  Warnock said he could not see Tottenham letting go of Michael to his former club, even though he rates him highly, but because he has done well for Spurs, he reckons that he will be there for another year at least. 
  Michael Dawson scored for England Under-21s in their 4-0 win over Wales at Wrexham.  Calum Davenport was an unused substitute.

  Just at the end of the transfer deadline, Spurs signed Polish striker Grzegorz Rasiak from Derby County for an undisclosed sum.  Wolverhampton Wanderers were believed to have agreed a £2.25 million fee with Derby earlier in the day, but the terms of the contract could not be agreed.
