   The Mail on Sunday report that Daniel Levy will demand heavy compensation form Blackburn Rovers should Tim Sherwood become their new manager.  The paper claims Rovers have approached Spurs about the move, with Sherwood saying that it is nothing but rumour at the moment.

   Tottenham beat Manchester United 3-2 at Old Trafford tonight.  For a match report click here.
   The Spurs Under-18 team lost 2-4 at Aston Villa today, with the goals coming from a Dominic Ball penalty and Kenneth McEvoy.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs will once more be without Scott Parker (Achilles), Younes Kaboul (knee), Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee), Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring) and Jake Livermore (groin), but Kyle Naughton (leg) hopes to be able to be selected at left back.
   MANCHESTER UNITED TEAM NEWS : -  Rafael is a late doubt for United after suffering a knock, but they will be without
Ashley Young (knee), Phil Jones (knee), Nemanja Vidic (knee), Chris Smalling (foot) and Antonio Valencia (ankle).

   Harry Kane fractured a metatarsal on Wednesday night playing on loan for Norwich City and will need an operation, which will keep him out for eight weeks.
   Nottingham Forest are paying a third of Jermaine Jenas' £45,000 a week wages and that was what put them above other Championship clubs who wanted him on loan the Daily Mail reveals.
   Also in the Mail, a report quotes Andre Villas Boas as saying that Tim Sherwood would not get the Director of Football job at Spurs, as he is in a technical role.  This may lead to the former Spurs midfield considering his position, with Blackburn Rovers now looking for a new boss.

   Midfielder Jermaine Jenas has joined Nottingham Forest on a month's loan.


   OTHER NEWS ... Joe Dunne has been appointed as the new manager of Colchester United ... 

   CRIME WATCH ... John Terry is found guilty of using racial terms in his confrontation with Anton Ferdinand last year by an independent FA panel and he receives a £220,000 fine and a four match ban ... 


   MEHSTG's spin story ... John Terry said today that he was "disappointed" that the FA had come to a different conclusion to a Magistrate's Court on the Anton Ferdinand incident.  A number of football fans were said to be "disappointed" that he only got a four match ban and was fined one week's wages.

   Tottenham beat Carlisle United 3-0 at Brunton Park in the Third Round of the League Cup tonight.  For a match report click here.
   Spurs will travel to Norwich City in round 4 of the League Cup after the draw tonight.  The match will take place in the week starting Monday 29th October.
   The Daily Mirror claims that former Spurs defender Ricardo Rocha is on trial at Ipswich Town after being released by Portsmouth.
   John Bond, the father of former Spurs Assistant manager Kevin Bond, died today.  Bond senior had managed Norwich City, Manchester City and Bournemouth among other clubs in his career after playing for West Ham United.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs travel north to Carlisle without Kyle Naughton (foot), Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring), Heurelho Gomes (ankle), Scott Parker (Achilles), Younes Kaboul (knee), Jake Livermore (groin) and Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee).  There could be starts for Michael Dawson and Hugo Lloris, as well as some of the younger fringe players in the squad.
   CARLISLE UNITED TEAM NEWS : -  Danny Livesey and Paul Thirwell both expect to play after suffering knocks to the head on Saturday at Coventry City.

   Full back Nathan Byrne has joined Crawley Town on loan until January.
   The BBC website claims that Franco Baldini has said that he is not interested in the job as Spurs Technical Director, as he wishes to see out his contract at AS Roma.

   Tottenham beat Queens Park Rangers 2-1 at White Hart Lane this afternoon.  For a match report click here.
   The Sunday Mirror claim that Spurs and Liverpool are leading the pursuit of Malaga's 20 year old striker Isco, with Manchester United, Juventus and Arsenal also interested.  His club need money and with a buy out clause of £16 million, the player could go on the cheap in January.
   The Mirror also reports that Spurs may make a move for AS Roma's General Manager Franco Baldini or Barcelona's equivalent Txiki Begiristain to fill the Director of Football role at Spurs, which Daniel Levy wants to re-introduce with Harry Redknapp and chief scout Ian Broomfield having left the club.  The Sunday Telegraph claims that if Tim Sherwood is over-looked for the post, he might re-consider his position at the club
   The Sun reveals that David Ginola is taking his coaching badges with Tottenham at the moment and would like to return to English football as a manager one day ... with fond memories of Spurs.

   MEHSTG's no-spin story ... John Terry has retired from international football saying that the FA's pursuit of charges concerning his alleged racist abuse of Anton Ferdinand have made his position untenable after 78 caps.  Firstly, his poor standard of play has made his presence in the squad untenable and 78 caps ... that's about 78 too many.  And to think this man stood in Ledley King's way.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs hope Kyle Naughton (foot) and Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring) can pass fitness tests, while Heurelho Gomes (ankle), Scott Parker (Achilles), Younes Kaboul (knee), Jake Livermore (groin) and Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee) all sit this match out. 
   QPR TEAM NEWS : -  Rangers will be missing Adel Taarabt, Anton Ferdinand and Fabio (all with hamstring), Stephane Mbia (groin), Armand Traore (knock) and Andy Johnson (knee) through injury.

   Spurs have joined Fulham in the chase for Anderlecht's 26 year old DR Congo striker Dieumerci Mbokani TalkSport reports.  Juventus are also interested.
   Mark Hughes hopes to persuade Michael Dawson that he should join Queens Park Rangers in January after missing out on him in the summer transfer window.

   UEFA are to investigate racist chanting from the Lazio fans at yesterday's game.  The Italians are said to have made monkey noises when Jermain Defoe, Aaron Lennon and Andros Townsend were on the ball.
   Brad Friedel has responded furiously on Twitter to comments by former France goalkeeper Fabien Barthez that new signing Hugo Lloris should immediately replace him in the Spurs team.
   The Under-21 side will play Aston Villa in the Premier League U21 League at White Hart Lane on Monday 1st October with a 19:00 kick off.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : - Spurs are without Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring), Heurelho Gomes (ankle), Scott Parker (Achilles), Younes Kaboul (knee), Jake Livermore (groin) and Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee) for the game against Lazio at White Hart Lane.  There may be first starts for Clint Dempsey and Hugo Lloris, with Kyle Naughton set to continue at left back and the rest of the squad are fit and available for selection.
   Former Spurs and Lazio midfielder Paul Gascoigne has declined an invitation to tomorrow's Europa League meeting with Lazio because of personal reasons as he continues his return to good health after his problems with drink.
   Investec have renewed their shirt sponsorship of the club for the cup competitions for this season.

   The Sunderland Echo reports that on loan defender Danny Rose has said that he would welcome a permanent move to Sunderland if the opportunity presented itself.
   Spurs look set to field a strong side against Lazio in the Europa League on Thursday with Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas saying he would like the team to go out and win the trophy.

   Spurs Under-21s beat Stoke City U21 7-2 at Hotspur Way in the FA Premier Under-21 league today.  Captain Ryan Mason scored a hat-trick with one of the goals a penalty, while the other goals came from Cristian Ceballos, Jon Obika, Dean Parrett and Nathan Byrne.

   Little Spurs news today apart from Hugo Lloris' situation has been clarified by Andre Villas-Boas, who said he is willing to fight for his place in the side.
   Spurs Under-18s travelled to Stoke City today, but lost their match 1-2 with the goal scored by Ruben Lameiras.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs will have Tom Huddlestone available after having his red card against Norwich City rescinded, while Clint Dempsey might be ready to make his first appearance after signing on transfer deadline day.  surgery victims Younes Kaboul (knee) and Scott Parker (Achilles) will be missing, while Hugo Lloris may be omitted from the squad after only having had one training session with the team and Heurelho Gomes' ankle injury rules him out of the match.
   READING TEAM NEWS : -  Despite missing Australia's game in mid-week with a knee knock, Adam Federici is a likely starter in goal and Jimmy Kebe (hamstring) and Jason Roberts (leg) will miss out.
   The Daily Mirror reveals that during the summer, striker Miroslav Klose turned down a move to Tottenham to stay at Lazio, where he wanted to honour his contract.

   Spurs trained at their new training ground at Hotspur Way, Bulls Cross, Enfield for the first time today.
   Clint Dempsey played 90 for the USA in their 1-0 victory over Jamaica in the World Cup qualifying campaign in Columbus, Ohio.


   OTHER NEWS ... David Cameron apologised to the families of the 96 who died at Hillsborough and the Liverpool supporters over the cover-up in what happened that day in 1989 and the Sun apologised for their reporting of the tragedy ...

   Jermain Defoe played 90 minutes of England's 1-1 draw with Ukraine in a World Cup qualifying game at Wembley tonight. Kyle Walker and Jake Livermore were unused substitutes.
   Gylfi Sigurdsson was in the Iceland side that suffered a shock 0-1 defeat in Cyprus in a World Cup qualifier tonight.
   Wales went down 1-6 away in Serbia in a World Cup qualifier tonight, with Gareth Bale playing the whole game and scoring the solitary Welsh goal.
   Jan Vertonghen played 90 minutes and Mousa Dembele 72 minutes of Belgium's 1-1 home draw with Croatia in Brussells tonight in their World Cup qualifier.
   Hugo Lloris played in France's 3-1 win over Belarus in a World Cup qualifying match in Paris tonight.

   Jake Livermore has been called up to the England squad for tomorrow night's World Cup qualifier against Ukraine at Wembley.
   Steven Caulker and Danny Rose played the 90 minutes of England Under-21's 1-0 win over Norway U21 at Chesterfield tonight in a European Championship qualifying match.  Harry Kane and Adam Smith stood by as unused substitutes.
   Atletico Madrid striker Adrian Lopez is now undecided about whether he wants to stay with the Spanish club amid speculation that Barcelona, Spurs and Arsenal were interested in him during the summer transfer window.
   The Metro claims that midfielder Jermaine Jenas may go out on loan to Leeds United after being told he does not feature in Andre Villas-Boas' plans.
   Jordan Archer was in goal for the Scotland Under21s, who lost 2-3 to Austria U21s in Altach.

   With it being international weekend, there is little Spurs related news around.
   Jan Vertonghen has revealed the part that his late father has played in his progress as a footballer, when his mother presented him with the Dutch Footballer of the Year trophy.
   Clint Dempsey has told that he was nearly in tears during the transfer window over his desire to leave Fulham and the lies that were put around about him during that time.
   Togo got a 1-1 draw against Gabon in the first leg of their African Cup of Nations qualifier thanks to a last minute Emmanuel Adebayor goal.
   Former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has returned to an old stomping ground at AFC Bournemouth to act as a consultant to the management team there.

   The Daily Mirror claims Spurs may make a January transfer window move for Santos midfielder Ganso, who could be available for a cut price £8 million, after clubs were talking about £24 million in the window just closed.  Sao Paolo and Fluminese are also keen on the 19 year old Brazilian international.
   The Republic of Ireland Under-18s drew 1-1 in a friendly with Latvia tonight, with Kenneth McEvoy playing the whole game for the Irish.

   Jermain Defoe scored and played 68 minutes of England's 5-0 away win over Moldova in Chisinau in the World Cup qualifying group latch tonight.  Kyle Walker was an unused substitute.
   Another international goal-scorer was Jan Vertonghen, who hit the second Belgian goal in a 2-0 win over Wales in Cardiff tonight.  Mousa Dembele also played and was substituted after 64 minutes, while Gareth Bale played 90 minutes for Wales.
   Hugo Lloris made his first appearance for France as a Spurs player in a1-0 away World Cup qualifying win against Finland in Berlin tonight.
   Finland's 2-0 home win over Norway in their World Cup qualifying match saw Gylfi Sigurdsson complete 90 minutes for his country.
   Clint Dempsey scored after 46 seconds to give the USA the lead against Jamaica in Kingston, but went on to lose their World Cup qualifier 1-2.
   Bongani Khumalo played all of the friendly against Brazil in Sao Paolo, which South Africa lost 0-1.
   Jordan Archer kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Finland for the Scotland Under21s.

   Steven Caulker scored England Under-21s first goal in a 2-0 European Championship qualifier away to Azerbaijan today.  Danny Rose also played with both completing 90 minutes.
   David Bentley has joined Russian side FC Rostov on loan until January.
   The Daily Mirror claims that Spurs are willing to loan Jermaine Jenas to a Championship club until January to get him some first team games.

   The Guardian report that Spurs came within minutes of signing FC Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho, but a third party, who owns a part of the midfielder, demanded more money, which caused a delay in agreeing a fee and this pushed the deal past the deadline.

   Tom Huddlestone's red card on Saturday against Norwich City has been rescinded by the referee after an appeal from Spurs.  The midfielder will now be available for selection against Reading on Sunday week.

   Hugo Lloris is attributed with comments saying he is unhappy at being kept out of the side by Brad Friedel after his last day signing in the recent transfer window.  Andre Villas-Boas had said that he would be on the bench after Friedel's outstanding display on Saturday against Norwich City.
   A Spurs XI beat Wycombe Wanderers 6-0 in a friendly at Spurs Lodge today, with the goals scored by Ryan Mason 2, Jon Obika 2, an own goal and Jack Munns.

   Dimitar Berbatov was a late target for Spurs in the summer transfer window, with his agent claiming there was a £5 million bid for him.
   The Daily Mirror claims that Spurs will allow Carlo Cudicini and Heurelho Gomes to go out on loan to Championship clubs after the singing of French national keeper Hugo Lloris.

   The Sunday Mirror claims that as part of the partnership relationship struck up between Spurs and Real Madrid, the Spanish club will have first refusal on £42 million rated winger Gareth Bale.

   Tottenham drew 1-1 with Norwich City this afternoon.  For a match report click here.
   Spurs Under-21s drew 2-2 with Sunderland at Spurs Lodge today, with the Tottenham goals coming from Alex Pritchard and Yago Falque.
   A late attempt to sign Joao Moutinho involved Tottenham asking for a one hour extension to the transfer window, which was granted, but were frustrated by a sell on clause to Sporting Lisbon (his former club) and a third party ownership issue.
   One late deal that did go through was a loan move for Harry Kane to today's opponents, Norwich City, where he will spend the season on loan.
   Aaron Lennon has signed a new contract that will run until the end of June 2012.
   Tottenham announced their squad numbers for the coming season, but will allocate numbers to deadline day signings Clint Dempsey and Hugo Lloris soon ...
