   Tottenham are linked with a summer move for FC Porto's Colombian striker Jackson Martinez, but a host of other European clubs are interested in the forward.
   The club are also linked with Sampdoria's 22 year old Manolo Gabbiadini, who might be worth and is interesting Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.
   Martin O'Neill will try to persuade Harry Kane to forsake England to play for the Republic of Ireland according to some reports.

   The date for Tottenham's Fourth Round League Cup tie at home to Brighton And Hove Albion has been set for Wednesday 29th October with a 19.45 kick off.
   Tottenham's Under-21s lost 1-2 away to Manchester United this evening, with their goal coming from Nathan Oduwa.
   25 year old Sweden and Cagliari striker Albin Ekdal is being linked with a January move to Spurs, with Aston Villa also interested in the former Bologna forward.


   OTHER NEWS ... Oscar Garcia has stepped down from his post as manager of Watford after suffering chest pains recently, leaving the job to Billy McKinlay ...

   The Spurs Under-18 side lost 2-4 to Chelsea at Hotspur Way this morning.  Luke Amos and Cameron Cater-Vickers were the Spurs goal-scorers.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Kyle Walker is the only player who is unavailable through injury, wile players rested in midweek will be back in contention for a place in the team tomorrow at Highbury.
   ARSENAL TEAM NEWS : -  The home side tomorrow will be missing Mathieu Debuchy who is out for six weeks with an ankle ligament injury, while injury prone star Theo Walcott misses out another game with a knee problem.  Also sidelined are Serge Gnabry (knee), Olivier Giroud (ankle), Yaya Sonogo (hamstring), while Nacho Monreal (back), Mathieu Flamini may have overcome a thigh injury to play, with Per Mertesacker and Kieran Gibbs might also be ready to turn out for the home side.

   DeAndre Yedlin is applying for a Latvian passport through his mother's nationality, to try and speed his move to Tottenham.

   Jan Vertonghen has declined to sign a new contract with Spurs, claiming he has four years left on his current deal and the fact that he is not signing a deal does not mean he wants to leave White Hart Lane.
   Cain Hoy, the American investment company, have announced that they will not make a bid for Tottenham Hotspur, with the asking price believed to be the stumbling block.

   Tottenham beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at White Hart Lane tonight in the League Cup Third Round.  For a match report click here.
   Spurs will be at home to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Fourth Round, to be played October 28th/29th.
   MK Dons 18 year old midfielder Dele Alli is said to be interesting Tottenham and Liverpool, with a fee of £10 million being quoted.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Andros Townsend is fit again after suffering a kick on his leg in the Europa League match in Belgrade last week.  Mauricio Pochettino may start Michel Vorm in goal and Roberto Soldado in attack.
   NOTTINGHAM FOREST TEAM NEWS : -  Stuart Pearce's side will be missing midfielders Chris Cohen and Andy Reid, defenders Jack Hobbs and Jack Hunt and striker Matt Fryatt for the League Cup tie at White Hart Lane.

   Spurs are linked with a move for Chelsea's Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah in January with a £13 million fee quoted.
   Former Spurs Academy defender Kane Vincent-Young, who was released at the end of last season, has joined Colchester United on a one year Development contract.

   Tottenham's Under-21s lost their first game this season losing 1-2 to Sunderland at Eppleton Colliery tonight.  Daniel Akindayini got a late goal for Spurs but they could not force an equaliser.

   The Sunday Mirror claims Everton are poised to make a move for Mousa Dembele in the January transfer window.
   Tottenham and Arsenal are chasing FC Basel's 22 year old Swiss international defender Fabian Schar, who would cost around £10 million.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Only Andros Townsend's leg injury is a doubt to add to long term surgery victim Kyle Walker on the injured list.
   WEST BROMWICH ALBION TEAM NEWS : -  A full squad is available to Alan Irvine to choose from as Joleon Lescott, Youssuf Mulumbu and Victor Anichebe return to fitness.

   Just when you had forgotten he was still there, Benoit Assou-Ekotto has been banned for three games (not that it will affect his position in the team at the moment) after they suspended him for his support of Patrick Anelka's quenelle gesture, although they have indicated that they do not think BAE is anti-Semitic in his belief that the former West Bromwich Albion man made the gesture.  Benoit himself said that he regards it as an anti-establishment protest and that he is not racist or anti-Semitic.
   Meanwhile, over at UEFA headquarters, they take a dim view of anti-Semitism (hopefully) and are investigating the banner displayed by Partizan Belgrade fans at Thursday's game.
   The papers are full of the story where Gareth Bale has told the Press that he loved the Spurs fans and have taken his "I love Spurs fans; you never know, I could come back one day.  I’ll never forget the great European nights at White Hart Lane. They were amazing.  Tottenham will always have a place in my heart. I hope the fans still love me even though I’ve moved on" as a sure-fire sign he will return to the Lane to finish his playing days.

   Tottenham drew 0-0 at Partizan Belgrade tonight in the Europa League Group C match.  Click here for a match report.
   It is claimed in the media today that Spurs turned down a bigger bid for Sandro than QPR offered, but still sold him to the struggling West London club.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs have travelled to Serbia without Emmanuel Adebayor, Nacer Chadli, Mousa Dembele, Younes Kaboul and Danny Rose.  Kyle Walker is also ruled out, but is recovering from stomach surgery well and Roberto Soldado is fit to start.  There may be debuts for Federico Fazio and Michel Vorm.

   Roberto Soldado has returned to training after suffering a stiff neck and back after the QPR game.  The club will assess his fitness before the trip to Belgrade for Thursday's Europa League match with Partizan.

   Younes Kaboul has been announced as Club captain, with Emmanuel Adebayor as his vice-captain.
   The Club have announced how many shares there are in the company in accordance with the Takeovers and Mergers Code, as Cain Hoy are set to make their interest formal.

   Tottenham drew 2-2 away to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this afternoon.  Click here for a match report.
   Spurs Under-18s also drew 2-2 against West Bromwich Albion at Hotspur Way this morning.  Lloyd Ross and Cy Goddard scored the Tottenham goals.

   Spurs Under-21s beat Southampton 3-2 at White Hart Lane tonight with goals from Ryan Mason, Emmanuel Sonupe and Daniel Akindayini.
   American investment firm Cain Hoy Enterprises are set to make an offer for Tottenham Hotspur, with their negotiations said to be quite advanced according to the Shoot ! website.  The company have announced that they are readying a cash offer for the club "without the consent of Tottenham Hotspur" and they have until 10th October to do so. 
   Ipswich Town are the latest club to be willing to ground share with Spurs while they spend a season on the road during construction of the new stadium, with the owners of the Olympic Stadium also keen to discuss the option of a season there.
   Tottenham seem to have lost out when former Valencia striker Jonas decided to do a U-turn and sign for Benfica.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs will be without Kyle Walker (abdominal surgery) and may make a late check on Roberto Soldado to see if he has overcome his neck injury.
   Rumours of THFC owner Joe Lewis wanting to sell the club for £1 billion have been denied by the club.
   The temporary move away from White Hart Lane gathered momentum today, with a ground-share with Arsenal being ruled out and while, early in the day, sharing the Olympic Stadium seemed to be ruled out, this looked only to be for a  long term arrangement and a short term share might be on.  A move to MK Dons is still being investigated and Wembley is also an option, but may be an expensive one, as the FA seek to pay off the construction costs of the stadium.
   Mauricio Pochettino will announce the Spurs club captain on Monday.
   Tottenham are being strongly linked with former Valencia and Brazil striker Jonas, who has turned down a move to Benfica.

   Tottenham have formally announced that a season away from home in the 2017-18 campaign is a reality, as the granting of the Compulsory Purchase Order of the one remaining business on the site is being challenged in the High Court, with the result that the ground not being ready until the start of the 2018-19 season.  Wembley and MK Dons are likely venues to stage Spurs "home" games in the season outside of N17.
   Former Spurs midfielder Simon Davies is playing for Solva FC in the Welsh amateur leagues.  Simon's brother is the club captain and he will have to pay £3 a game subs to play for them !!
   Spurs Director of Football Administration Darren Eales will be leaving the club to take over as the President of a  new MLS franchise in Atlanta later this year.

   Ben Davies played all of Wales' 2-1 away Euro 2016 qualifying group win over Andorra tonight.
   England Under-21s completed their European Championship group programme with a 3-0 win in Moldova, with Harry Kane scoring the third goal and completing the whole match.  Tom Carroll played the 90 minutes, but Alex Pritchard came on as a substitute in the 86th minute.
   Milos Veljkovic played all of Serbia's 4-1 win over Northern Ireland in Portadown, with Aaron McEneff being an unused sub for the home team.

   Danny Rose and Andros Townsend were unused substitutes in England's 2-0 away win against Switzerland tonight in their Euro 2016 qualifying match.
   Harry Winks was a 69th minute substitute for England Under-19s in their 1-1 friendly draw with Germany in Oberhausen tonight.

   Hugo Lloris was captain of France in their 1-1 away draw with Serbia in a friendly match tonight.
   Denmark's 2-1 Euro 2016 Qualifying win over Armenia saw Christian Eriksen play the whole match.
   Vlad Chiriches play all 90 minutes of Romania's 1-0 Euro 2016 Qualifying match in Greece tonight.
   Spurs and Benfica are battling to sign former Valencia striker Jonas.  The Brazilian is a free agent after being released by the La Liga club.
   There are reports today that following yesterday's news about Aaron Lennon during the transfer window, it seems he was also offered to Newcastle United, but they did not want him (probably because he was not French).

   Tottenham's Under-18s won the Premier League U18 Champions Cup, with a 1-0 victory over Benfica at Hotspur Way.  Ryan Loft scored in the first half and Benfica were reduced to ten men near the end.
   Villarreal central defender Mateo Musacchio has told the Press that his move to Tottenham failed to happen because Spurs did not offer him of his club enough money.  Nothing to do with River Plate still being owed part of the transfer fee then ??
   It appears that Aaron Lennon called off a last minute transfer deadline day loan to QPR as he wants to fight for his place at Tottenham.  The winger also turned down interest from Stoke City on the last day of the window and the Mirror also report that Sunderland were another club he rejected a move to.

   Happy 132nd Birthday to THFC !!
   The Under-18s were involved in the Premier League U18 Champions Cup at Hotspur Way today, they beat Everton 5-1 (Ryan Loft 2 - 1p, Shayon Harrison, Lloyd Ross, Cameron Carter-Vickers) and then met Real Madrid in the other group game, drawing 1-1 with Harrison scoring again, before getting sent off.
   Emmanuel Adebayor was in the Togo side that lost 1-2 to Guinea in the African Cup of Nations today.
   Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game after coming on as a 64th minute substitute, as England Under-21s beat Lithuania U21 away in the European Championship group qualifier tonight.  Tom Carroll completed the 90 minutes, while Alex Pritchard played 11 minutes as a substitute.
   Kenneth McEvoy was an unused sub for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s in their 0-2 defeat in Germany tonight.
   Serbia Under-21s lost 2-3 to Italy in a European Championship qualifying match tonight, with Milos Veljkovic playing all of the match.
   Josh Onomah played 70 minutes of England Under-18s 3-1 friendly win over Holland at Bury tonight.
   Dominic Ball was on the pitch for the whole of the game when England Under-20s beat Romania at AFC Telford tonight.

   Hugo Lloris captained France to a 1-0 home win in a friendly against Spain in Paris tonight.
   Belgium beat Australia 2-0 in a friendly tonight in Brussels with Jan Vertonghen starting and playing 89 minutes, with substitutes Nacer Chadli and Mousa Dembele playing 28 and 10 minutes respectively.
   Jordan Archer kept goal for Scotland Under-21s in their 1-1 away draw with Slovakia in the European Championship qualifiers.
   Tottenham's Under-15s won the Crowne Plaza International tournament in Denmark yesterday, beating Danish side FC Naesby in the final 2-1, with Tashan Oakley-Boothe being named Player of the Tournament.

   Erik Lamela played 68 minutes and scored Argentina's second goal with a volley from inside the box in their 4-2 friendly victory over Germany in Dusseldorf tonight.
   Danny Rose and Andros Townsend were unused substitutes in England's 1-0 friendly win over Norway at a less than half full Wembley tonight.
   Tottenham's home match against West Bromwich Albion has moved from Saturday 20th September to Sunday 21st September with a 13:30 kick off.
   Benoit Assou-Ekotto has been left out of both Tottenham's Premier League squad and the Europa League squad, while Brad Friedel misses out on a place in the Europa League squad.
   Spurs and Arsenal are being linked with a move for SS Lazio's Antonio Candreva in the winter transfer window.  The attacking midfielder has not been offered a new deal at the Serie A club and might be looking to move to the Premier League.

   Kyle Walker has undergone surgery on his lower abdomen in an attempt to resolve the pelvic injury he has been suffering with since the end of last season.

   MEHSTG's no-spin story ... Louis van Gaal said he could have taken the easy option and managed Spurs for the same money, but knew it would be harder to manager Manchester United.  He told the Mirror, “Financially, Tottenham was kind of as attractive as Man United. But, in my eyes, Man United is still the number one club in England, Tottenham really is not.”  Err.  Look at the table Louis old boy ... I think will find United are not.

   Welcome to the MEHSTG Transfer deadline day desk.
MOVES
IN
   Tottenham completed the signing of Montpelier midfielder Benjamin Stambouli for around £4.7 million.
OUT
   QPR secured the £10 million transfer of Brazilian midfielder Sandro.
   SV Hamburg have signed Lewis Holtby on a one year long loan with an option to make it permanent next summer.
   Defender Zeki Fryers has left Spurs to join Crystal Palace for a rumoured fee of £3 million.
   After what seems like a million loan spells away from White Hart Lane, forward Jon Obika has made a permanent move to Swindon Town, just before he was due a testimonial.  Obika has left for an undisclosed fee.
   Tomislav Gomelt, the reserve midfielder, has joined Serie B club Bari on a season long loan with the option to buy him at the end of the spell.
   Souleymane Coulibaly has left Spurs to join Serie B side Bari on a permanent deal.
RUMOURS
   Spurs were rumoured to be offering Andros Townsend plus £14 million for Southampton's injured striker Jay Rodriguez.
   Arsenal and Tottenham were reported to have made enquiries to Manchester City about their defender Matija Nastasic.
   Swansea City were willing to sell Spurs target WiIfried Bony for £24 million.  The clubs had talks about the deal, but they broke down and the deal looked to be off.
   Zeki Fryers was due to have a medical ahead of a £3 million move to Crystal Palace today on a three year deal.
   Rumours are that QPR are also interested in winger Aaron Lennon, as were Stoke City.
NEWS
   Argentina have called Erik Lamela into their squad for a friendly against Germany on Wednesday.
   Former Spurs midfielder Niko Kranjcar has joined QPR from Dynamo Kiev.


   OTHER NEWS ... Carlisle United sacked their manager Graham Kavanagh today ... manager Joe Dunne parted ways with Colchester United today ...


   MEHSTG's spin story ... That fantastic ex-Gooner Emmanuel Frimpong, who gave us the term "Frimponged", has found a club after being released by Barnsley. It is FC Ufa in Russia.  No, I had never heard of them before either !!  But you just know it is all going to end badly.
