Spurs have revealed plans for a new 60,000 seater stadium next to the current ground, having bought up a lot of surrounding property.  The new set-up will have a club museum, an open space, shops, housing and leisure facilities.  The club decided on developing in the same vicinity as White Hart Lane after discussions with a number of local and London bodies.  Daniel Levy did announce that the club would be looking for a stadium sponsor as this would be the only way to help fund the development.

The new stadium announcement came as part of the company report revealing that the club's revenue rose from £103 million to £114.8 million, although there was an overall £14.6 million debit thanks to the £44 million property dealings that was paving the way for the new ground.  .

Harry Redknapp was the only choice as the new manager after Daniel Levy had decided to sack Juande Ramos.  The Spurs chairman said that he knew Redknapp from deals that had been done in the past between the two and he liked his honest approach.  Levy also reiterated that a Director of Football is not needed at the moment, because Redknapp has a vast experience and knowledge of players, which is something that has not been the case in the past.  He said that with the DoF post, Tottenham had qualified for Europe three times and that it is not the post, but the person that is in it that determines it's success.
Daniel Levy added that there would not be a great deal of money available for transfers in January
and that there was enough talent in the squad to mean that only a few changes would be needed.  Is this is a sign of things to come with the new stadium on the horizon ???.

There was also an announcement that building on the new training ground/Academy would start in 2009.
In an interview on Football365, Levy revealed
that there had not been a transfer in or out on which the Head Coach Juande Ramos had not had the final say.  This included the departure of Dimitar Berbatov, even though a replacement had not been purchased.
   D
efending the meeting to sound out Juande Ramos in the King Carlos XIII hotel in Spain, the Spurs chairman hit out at journalists who keep bringing this up, as he said that it is not widely reported that Martin Jol went for an interview at Newcastle United while still Spurs Head Coach.
Having been sent off at Stoke City, defender Michael Dawson's appeal against a charge of improper conduct has been upheld, so he will not be suspended for any further matches, but he has been warned about his future conduct.

Defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has announced that he would love to join Paris St. Germain.  In a strange coincidence, 18 year old striker Mohammed Taidara may make the opposite journey, as he has said that English and Spanish clubs are interested in him, who can play for either Senegal or France.  He is also being linked with Portsmouth.  Robert Green of West ham United has been suggested as the next Spurs goalkeeper costing £7 million by the Guardian, who also think Tottenham will challenge Newcastle United and Chelsea for the singing of Lazio's Macedonian striker Goran Pandev.

The Daily Mirror runs a story claiming that Juande Ramos will be asking for compensation of £7.5 million for his sacking by Spurs.

Harry Redknapp was booed as he collected his Freedom of Portsmouth for managing the club to a FA Cup victory last season.  Pompey fans were taken out of the Portsmouth Guildhall as they booed and shouted "Judas."

The Daily Star reckons that Harry Redknapp is keen to hijack the loan move of David Beckham to AC Milan to bring the England midfielder to White Hart Lane
.  In a number of different papers, the new manager is linked to buying Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch, David James and Lassana Diarra from his former club Portsmouth in the January transfer window.  The Independent claims that Spurs might be looking to sign unattached Ghana midfielder Stephen Appiah, who has been in a legal dispute with his former club Fenerebahce.  Sky Sports claim that Tottenham are one of four clubs watching Bosnian goalkeeper Sead Ramovic, who plays for Norwegian club side Tromso.

Spurs officially announced that the manager's post had been given to Harry Redknapp.  The News of the World claim he is being given a £3 million a year deal for three years, but that he claims if he can't keep Spurs up, then he will quit at the end of the season.  Great !! Just what we need.  The Sunday Mirror and the Mail on Sunday reckon he will be appointing Kevin Bond as assistant manager, although Football 365 report that he has mentioned two un-named ex-Spurs men who he says have great futures in the game and wants to talk to them about a return to the Lane.  The BBC report that one could be former midfielder Tim Sherwood, who might have a coaching role.
Counter claims about Redknapp's departure from Fratton Park have been made this evening
.  The Portsmouth manager said he felt that he had taken Pompey as far as he could, with the club only getting 19,000 fans a home game and that the club needed to "sell" him to keep afloat, as there were money troubles there.  However, Portsmouth's version is that they allowed Tottenham to speak to him and he said he wanted to go, so they thought they would not stand in his way, but stressed that it did not have anything to do with the money they would receive in compensation.
Harry Redknapp has been linked with a raid of his old club in the next transfer window should they be willing to sell players, such as midfielder Lassana Diarra and striker Jermain Defoe, who
would be returning a year after departing White Hart Lane and Peter Crouch who would be coming back to the club he served as a youngster.

The new boss commented that he had been approached 18 months previously, as he was lined up to replace Martin Jol after a bad run of results, but Redknapp said "things happened" that prevented him joining Spurs.  He had previously stated that he would not work within a Director of Football strucure.
The Sunday Mirror claims that Juande Ramos settled for just a payment of one year's salary rather than the three he would be entitled to, thus going for £3 million rather than nearer £10 million.
Daniel Levy has issued a long open letter on the club website about the changes and the way the club is run.  He details the background to the summer transfers out of the club and the lack of replacement in the striking department
.  He claims the time is right to return to a more traditional manager's role at the club.  Levy added that Damien Comolli's post will not be directly replaced, despite rumours in the Sunday People that England assistant Franco Baldini was being lined up to take a similar role.

The News of the World have said that Spurs want to sign Reading striker Kevin Doyle in January, with Wigan Athletic's Amir Zaki and Fenerbahce's Dani Guiza also being watched.  The same paper claim that Fabio Capello was not impressed by the attitude of David Bentley when he was with the England squad and a source said he will not be invited again.

DON'T FORGET ... THE CLOCKS IN THE UK GO BACK TONIGHT !!
Late tonight Tottenham announced that Head Coach Juande Ramos, Assistant coach Gus Poyet, fitness coach Marcos Alvarez and Sporting Director Damien Comolli had left the club with immediate effect, in what seems like a total backroom clearout and an admission that the "Director of Football" system does not work in English Football.

The club announced also that they had approached Portsmouth to speak to their manager Harry Redknapp about taking over at White Hart Lane and later there was a quote form Redknapp saying that £5 million in compensation had been agreed for him to leave Fratton Park and start as Spurs manager straight away.

While Redknapp indicated he would pick the team with Clive Allen and Alex Inglethorpe, he would be in the dressing room to give a team talk, but the two caretakers would be in charge of the team during the game.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Vedran Corluka and Roman Pavlyuchenko are both cup-tied for the game and Tom Huddlestone is injured and will not feature.  Despite his rib injury, Heurelho Gomes travels to Italy and Ledley King will be assessed tomorrow morning to see if he will be able to play.  Michael Dawson is available, as his ban does not apply to the UEFA Cup and the same goes for Gareth Bale.

Tottenham have been drawn in Group D for the UEFA Cup group stages.  As the top seed they avoided some of the bigger clubs in the competition, but will play away to Udinese on October 23rd, at home to Dinamo Zagreb on  November, Dutch side NEC Nijmegen away on November 27th and a home game against Spartak Moscow on 17th or 18th December.
