Tottenham
have announced on the Stock Market that they are raising 75 million
through merchant banks against future season ticket sales and the
value of the ground to pay for the Academy at Abridge and to
expand White Hart Lane (£65 million) and money to pay off loans over
10 years (£10 million) giving another 10 years on top to clear their
debts. This must mean that the club are satisfied that the
planning permission is to go through for the Academy and that they
will be getting an Underground station near Northumberland Park to go
ahead with increasing the capacity of the stadium.
The
privately placed bond is the biggest in football so far and the issue
of senior loan notes makes it possible for Tottenham to decide when
they are drawn upon. This gives the club flexibility in how they
use the money and Daniel Levy has hailed it as an innovative way of
funding projects at the club. While none of the money is
earmarked for transfers, it is hoped that the development projects
will now be funded from this source and other revenue streams can be
put into areas such as player purchases and salaries.
The
London Evening Standard does not share the confidence that the club
will achieve a tube station near the ground and claim that the Board
are already looking for possible sites for a new stadium.
Without mentioning any locations at this time, the proposed Olympic
bid and a stadium on Hackney marshes is one option, while Picketts
Lock would still offer the nearest available site which is not too far
removed form their current site.
TOTTENHAM
TEAM NEWS : - Gus Poyet will be fit to be included in the squad for
the trip to Birmingham City tomorrow. Les Ferdinand, Matthew
Etherington and Mauricio Taricco are all still not ready to play yet
and Simon Davies is serving a one match ban.
BIRMINGHAM
CITY TEAM NEWS : - Damien Johnson is vying for a recall after being
out of the side for a few weeks and Stan Lazaridis is back on the
wing. Geoff Horsfield is suspended and Daryl Powell is doubtful
with a knee injury. Stern John, Robbie Savage and Oliver Tebily
are all to have late fitness tests, but are expected to feature for
the Blues.
Referring
to Robbie Savage on the club's official site, Welsh team-mate Simon
Davies said he was great to have on your side, but when you are in
opposition ... "I suppose you just want to kick him!"
You can put Justin Edinburgh in that category I think !!
Robbie
Keane has told TeamTalk that he hopes to stay at Tottenham a long time
and win some silverware with the club. The Republic of Ireland
striker said he looked around the dressing room recently and realised
that the mix of experienced and young players meant that the side
could be successful over the next few years.
Neil
Sullivan has been given the all clear to resume training by a
specialist after breaking his thumb near the start of the season.

The
FA have announced that there is insufficient information about the
tunnel incident at Highbury to take any action and the matter will now
be forgotten.
Following
a blast about Glenn Hoddle on his personal website, Les Ferdinand had
been told that he will reluctantly be allowed to leave if he wants to
go. Les has said he would not be content to sit on the bench for
the rest of the one year remaining on his contract, so Hoddle has said
that should the club receive an acceptable offer, he will be allowed
to leave. Wolverhampton Wanderers had been very interested in
gaining Ferdinand's services and may come back in for the former
England striker in January. However, they may have changed their
mind, as they today took Chelsea's young striker Carlton Cole on
loan. Having seen Ferdinand play like a dog last night in the
reserves, we may not be inundated with offers.
Mauricio
Taricco said that he enjoyed the 45 minutes of action he had at
Ipswich Town in the reserves last night last night, after being laid
off with a groin injury. After the first half, he came off to be
rested, but said he felt no pain and was looking to get back into the
first team picture as soon as possible.
The
London Evening Standard report that winger Matthew Etherington will
have to miss out on football for three weeks because of bruising to
the bone in his ankle, meaning he needs rest to cure it.
Middlesbrough
will seek compensation in court from Liverpool and Christian Ziege
over the player's departure to the Merseyside club in 2000.

The
Football Association have declared that they will not be taking any
action against Ledley King over the alleged "stamp" on
Freddie Ljungberg on Saturday 16th November.
Gus
Poyet will not wear a mask to cover the cut near his left eye he
picked up in the match against Leeds United. Having had six
stitches, he said he will have to be careful that he doesn't open it
up again, but has been taking part in training without any protective
face wear.
Lee
Bowyer is about to be put on the transfer list because he will not
sign a new contract with Leeds United. They intend to try and
sell him in January, when the transfer window opens, but Football 365
reckon he will sit tight until the summer, when he can negotiate his
own signing on fee.
The same site also claims that Tottenham are showing interest in
Romanian striker Adrian Mutu. The Parma forward says his future
is at that club, but Spurs and AC Milan are supposed to be ready to
jump in if he leaves. Mutu said that the clubs named do not
interest him.
Spurs
reserves went down 1-2 at Ipswich Town this evening. Ben Thatcher
scored the goal. For a match report, click here.

Ledley
King has asked the FA to clear his name in the "stamping"
investigation during the recent North London derby. His action
was not intentional and he could not avoid treading on the Swedish
Arsenal star.
In
addition to all this, an incident in the tunnel after that game is to
be investigated by the FA. It is alleged that three internationals
were involved in scuffles where blows were exchanged. It is
believed that this was not in the match report, but it has come to the
FA's attention and they will look into the matter.
Mauricio
Taricco returns to action tomorrow night in the reserves when he also
returns to Portman Road, the home of the club he signed from.
The reserves roll on to play Ipswich Town at their home ground at 7.00
p.m., with both sides fielding strong teams with Thatcher, Perry,
Blondel, Ferdinand and Rebrov expected to feature for Tottenham.
Middlesbrough
will be pursuing their claim for £2.5 million against Liverpool for
tempting Christian Ziege away from them. The North-East club
have been given leave to appeal against the compensation they received
for the transfer costing £5.5 million, which was written into his
contract and Boro' claim the illegal approach left them out of pocket
on the sale.

Glenn
Hoddle has refuted rumours that Spurs are interested in signing
jug-eared Gooner Francis Jeffers. The Spurs boss said he did not
know where this spurious story had sprung up from, but he has not
enquired about the Scouse injury prone striker.
The Spurs boss went on to say that players should understand that he
will use squad rotation now that Tottenham finally have enough fit
players to utilise it fully.
Gus Poyet had to go off after a clash of heads left him needing six
stitches, but he should be OK for Saturday's match against Birmingham
City.
Teddy
Sheringham has hailed the current Spurs squad as the strongest he has
played in at the club. This is some praise from the captain, who
believes that now the players are returning from injury, there is
justifiable confidence that they can stay near the top of the table
for the rest of the season.
Apparently,
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Dave Jones will keep on "beavering
away" to prise Les Ferdinand away from Tottenham and up to the
Midlands. A renewed bid may be made after Hoddle turned down a
one month loan deal for the veteran Spurs striker.
Spurs
Youth team have been drawn at home to Swindon Town or Hoddesdon Town

TOTTENHAM
TEAM NEWS : - Christian Ziege looks set to start and Ledley
King, Stephen Carr and Robbie Keane have all got over knocks picked up
in the North London derby last week. King has trained after his
bout of gastro-enteritis, but will only play if he is 100%, while
Simon Davies is keen to get back on the pitch for Tottenham after
having to leave it after 27 minutes against Arsenal.
Nicky
Barmby thinks Terry Venables will get a good reception on his return
to White Hart Lane because he did wonders for the club. He said
he also started his career there, but did not go on to say what sort
of reception he would receive.
Chelsea
striker Eidur Gudjohnsen has been linked with a move to Tottenham as
his contract talks with his club broke down.
On
loan striker, Steven Ferguson scored for Motherwell in their 1-3
defeat by Hibernian.
Spurs
Under-19s lost away to Leicester City 0-2 and then got stuck in the
mud in their coach (along with the U-17s) and didn't get back to
London until 7 p.m.
Spurs
Under-17s grabbed a last minute winner away to Leicester City in a 4-3
win. Andy Barcham scored at the death after goals from trialist
Fola Orilouiske (2) and Andy Hodges had given them a 3-1 lead, after
being 0-1 down.

Both Ledley King and Christian Ziege should be fit
for Sunday's game. King is over the bout of gastro-enteritis he
suffered on Monday and Ziege over recovered from his calf injury that
has kept him out for two months. Anthony Gardner is out with a
knee injury, but Les Ferdinand could be back in contention after
training for a week following his back problem.
LEEDS
TEAM NEWS : - Bakke, Duberry and Mills are all suffering with
ankle injuries that make them doubtful, while Fowler, Dacourt,
Johnson, Matteo and Radebe have all missed games with various
ailments. Bowyer is back after a one game ban and Ian Harte may
be recalled in defence.
The
FA have revealed that they are going to follow up Arsenal's claim that
Ledley King "stamped" on Freddie Ljungberg in last
Saturday's match. He faces a three match ban f found guilty of
the alleged offence.
It
was ten days ago that Glenn Hoddle rebuffed Wolverhampton Wanderers'
attempt to take Les Ferdinand on loan according to reports
today. The veteran striker is still needed at Tottenham as part
of Hoddle's squad. This is despite Planet Football claiming
Ferdie has sent out a come and get me plea to the First Division side.
Despite
rumours saying he is unhappy at Tottenham, Milenko Acimovic has told
reporters that he has no problem with the manager using him
sparingly. The Slovenian told Planet Football that he is
satisfied that Hoddle knows his business and is happy being rotated as
part of the squad.

Jamie
Redknapp has denied he made comments about being upset at being left
out of the England group who got together this week. The
midfielder said he told reporters that he was enjoying his football
and if he was still in good form and fit in a couple of month's time,
who knows. This was translated into the report that said he
should have been in the squad that Sven Goran Eriksson got together
this week.
Anthony
Gardner is hoping to overcome his nagging knee injury that he
aggravated at Burnley and has kept him out since. The tall
central defender has said he hopes to recover fully, to avoid the
frustrating pattern of playing and then being out injured that has
developed over the last year or so.
Wolverhampton
Wanderers are hoping to lure Les Ferdinand to Molineux on loan.
Hit by injury, manager Dave Jones is looking for firepower up front
and sees the 35 year old as the man to lead the Wolves line. It
is rumoured the deal is trying to be pushed through before Saturday's
match with Nottingham Forest.
Christian
Ziege might have to face a late fitness test on Sunday to see if he is
ready to play against Leeds United.

The
London Evening Standard claim that Tim Sherwood may have played his
last game for the club after being pulled out of Monday's reserve
match against Charlton Athletic, despite the players claims that he is
over his knee injury.
Someone
who did take part in the reserve game - Christian Ziege - is back in
the reckoning for a first team place after getting match fit again
following a calf injury that has kept him out for eight weeks.
While it looked as though he was set to feature for Germany against Holland in a friendly,
he has opted to stay at Spurs Lodge and continue training in a bid to
be fit for Sunday's match against Leeds United.
Gary
Doherty played in the Republic of Ireland's 0-0 friendly draw in
Greece.
Simon
Davies starred for Wales, setting up both goals in their 2-0 Euro 2004
qualifier in Azerbaijan this afternoon.
Norway
beat Austria 1-0 in a friendly with Steffen Iversen in the side.
Ramon

Spurs
are rumoured to be planning a £6 million move for Bulgarian
midfielder Stilian Petrov, who is unsettled at Celtic.
Ledley
King has pulled out of the England get-together as he is suffering
with gastro-enteritis.
Jamie
Redknapp has said that he is disappointed to miss out on the gathering
in Aylesbury, where England players were brought together by Sven
Goran Eriksson. He told Planet Football that he is as good as
anyone in the squad and if he is playing regularly over the next
couple of months and not getting a look-in, he will wonder what is
going on.
Portsmouth
are still keen to take Tim Sherwood to Fratton Park. The First
Division leaders are looking to talk to the former Watford midfielder
this week and apparently Harry Redknapp was at the reserve game last
night (although I didn't see him), although Sherwood wasn't playing
(perhaps pulled out at Harry's request ??).
The
Planet Football website is reporting that Tottenham and SCBC as being
rivals for Dutch side Willem II's Gambian star Jatto Ceesay. The
28 year odl can play in a forward position or on the wing and he has
Dutch residency, so will not need a work permit, should he come to
play in England. However, it appears from the latter part of
their report that SCBC and AZ Alkmaar are keener than Spurs on the
player.
Ahead
of Sunday's league match at White Hart Lane, it appears that Leeds
united are suffering an injury crisis of Tottenham size
proportions. They have Batty and Fowler, Dominic Matteo, Olivier
Dacourt, Lucas Radebe, Eirik Bakke, Ian Harte and Seth Johnson all
having treatment for various injuries.

Simon
Davies will miss the visit to Birmingham City, after his red card in
the weekend's North London derby was commuted to a single
yellow. His initial booking for a "foul" on Ashley
Cole was wiped out, but he will still have a one match suspension for
reaching five bookings for the season.
Ledley
King has joined the England party for a "get together" in
St. Albans.
Whingeing
Arsenal are going on about an alleged "stamp" by King on
Ljungberg in last Saturday's match. They claim that it should
have been highlighted on ITV's "The Premiership", but it was
not featured. They thinks it's simply not fair that Dennis
Bergkamp gets done for an intentional stamp on a Blackburn player,
while an injury picked up by the Swede is out down as "not
intentional" by the Gooner. Where's the justice ??
Hoddle has said on the Spurs site that the contact was accidental, but
is disappointed at the way the media has blown the incident up out of
all proportion ... a bit like Ljungberg's leg really !!
Steffen
Iversen has joined the Norway squad for their friendly match against
Austria.
Simon
Davies has flown to Azerbaijan for Wales' Euro 2004 qualifier.
Jonathan
Blondel has been picked for Belgium's Under-21s who have a match

was supposedly watching, but a Sao Paolo official said that he was

And
Tottenham are also being associated with a move for Fabio Bazzani of

Planet Football says Spurs, Everton and Fulham have all had him
watched.

style they had been before the poor run of results.
Stephen
Carr and Robbie Keane have both pulled out of the Republic of Ireland
squad for their friendly match in midweek against Greece.
Tottenham
Ladies won their fourth straight game with a 4-0 victory over Southend
Ladies. The Under-13s lost out to Harpenden 1-5 and the

The
Daily Telegraph reveals that Spurs agreed to pay Leeds £7 million for
Robbie Keane with £2 million immediately and £2 million within 12
months. The other £3 million was "dependent upon the performance
of the player and of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club", according
to the accounts. This was conditional on Keane playing 10 games
(the 10th match was at Sunderland last Sunday) or scoring 12 goals or
Tottenham had to amass 30 points or stay in the Premier League.
Kasey
Keller has said that he would like three or four more years at
Tottenham, hopefully in Europe and then he would retire home to the
USA to promote the game there.

TOTTENHAM
TEAM NEWS : - Early indications from the Spurs website is that Anthony
Gardner will miss the match with the knock he picked up at Burnley,
while Ledley King and Christian Ziege are classed as fit, although
their participation is by no means certain.
The
London Evening Standard says that Tottenham may have problems with two
players whose contracts expire in summer 2004. Matthew
Etherington is one and he has not been spoken to yet, the report
claims, about a new contract. The other Spur is keeper Kasey
Keller, who has a contract clause saying that he can renegotiate his
contract after a certain number of matches. That came up after
the Fulham game earlier this season, but no agreement has yet been
reached. It is expected that there might be further moves in
both cases by the club at some stage.
Johnnie
Jackson has been allowed to stay at Swindon Town for a further month,
following his loan spell there which started two months ago.
Spurs
have been linked with NAC Breda's Hungarian star Csaba Feher, along
with Manchester City. There is a problem though, as there always
is, in that he does not meet the Home Office's criteria for a work
permit. Scouts from both English clubs were at a recent club
match, but his agent (the same one who represents Sergei Rebrov - so
that rules out Spurs !!) said he might go to Spain where the transfer
would be more straightforward.

Wimbledon's Lionel Morgan. The 19 year old midfielder has just
returned from a serious knee injury and Pleat was among the 660 odd
other fans who huddled into Selhurst Park to watch him as the home
side lose 1-3 to Rotherham United.

Tim
Sherwood is the latest Spurs player to seek talks with manager
Glenn Hoddle about his future. Following Iversen's unhappiness
yesterday, the London Evening Standard reports that the former Watford
midfielder will want to meet with Hoddle to talk about any future he
may have at the club.
Tottenham
are believed to have made a bid for Peter van der Heyden according to
Planet Football, who report that a Spurs scout was in Belgium to watch
him last weekend. It could fit in with whispers we heard that
Tottenham are keen to sign a French speaking player to help Jonathan
Blondel fit in at the club.
Gianni
Comandini, the Atalanta striker is another player that website quotes
Tottenham as having looked at recently. The 25 year old has been
at the club for a year after joining from Internazionale for £10
million, thus he is unlikely to be allowed to leave in the near
future. A scout was apparently at the game to watch him, but the
outcome of his report is unlikely to prompt a move for the forward,
who would cost big money.
Manager
Glenn Hoddle says he has never forgotten the pain of being relegated
with Tottenham as a young player and that was what drove him on to
greater things. He told the Sporting Life site that he made a
point of talking to all his players after last season's Worthington
Cup final defeat to get them to absorb the occasion and to use it to
drive them on to more successful times.
Gary
Doherty said on the Spurs website that the team have had their

Gus
Poyet has buried the hatchet with John Gorman after a row between the
two when the Uruguayan was substituted in yesterday's match against
Chelsea. Poyet aimed a foul mouthed tirade at the assistant
manager, but all that has been forgotten now and it was said in the
heat of the moment between two people at the club who desperately
wanted to win the match. Well, that is what is being said anyway
!!
A
stray finger in the eye caused Dean Richards problems seeing what was
going on in the second half of the derby against Chelsea. He
told the media that he played a lot of the match
"half-blind", but he still produced a blinder for the Spurs
defence.
This
injury has made Deano unlikely to play at Turf Moor, along with calf
injury victim Jamie Redknapp and Robbie Keane, who picked up a
shoulder injury.
Steffen
Iversen is supposed to want to have "showdown" talks with
Glenn Hoddle about where he features in the manager's plans at White
Hart Lane. Having been left out of the starting line-up for a
while, the Norwegian is hoping to clarify his position, but has said
that he does not need to hurry into any rash decisions.
Simon
Davies is included in the Welsh squad for the Euro 2004 qualifier in
Azerbaijan on November 20th.
On
Sunday 10th November, a charity match featuring the Tottenham Legends
will take place at Purfleet FC (near Lakeside Thurrock) in aid of

Glenn
Hoddle said that Spurs are progressing after they fought out a draw
with Chelsea. He said that the aim is to beat teams like
Chelsea, but the result demonstrated that the team were getting
there. Hoddle was not pleased with some aspects of the play,
with Tottenham losing the second ball too often, but he told reporters
that he was reassured by the fact that Carlo Cudicini was the only
thing between the two sides.
Gary
Doherty has admitted on the official website that he is not near match
fitness for the first team yet. When asked about his fitness
levels, he said he was probably about 75% ready and felt that he needs
to build up his match readiness in the reserves and maintain a good
training regime to get back to the form he was in prior to his broken
ankle he got last season.

Babayaro, Lampard, Petit, Morris, Hasselbaink, Zola, Terry, Ferrer,

Apparently
Gooner George Graham has been saying that Stephen Carr could cross
North London if he left Tottenham. Manager Glenn Hoddle told the
media that there was no reason for the Irishman to leave Spurs, as he
could achieve what he wanted with the club. Hoddle believes the
same can be applied to Simon Davies, as he builds a young core of the
team, that could stay together for a long time.
Reserve
striker Lee Barnard has gone to Exeter City on a month's loan to get
some first team experience. He could go straight into the team
against Boston United on Saturday.
Thanks
to Hans Meekers, who tells us that news in Belgium is circulating that
Jonathan Blondel might join Nottingham Forest or Portsmouth on loan in
January, as Glenn Hoddle wants him to get first team games, but does
not want him returning home.

night. For others, the prices are £3 adults and £1 concessions
(OAPs and Under-16s). Entrance is via the West Stand and the
match will kick off at 7.00 p.m.
Lars
Hirschfeld has started a diary on the Spurs page of the Sky Sports
website, in which he reveals that he shares a room on away trips with
Jonathan Blondel, as he is the only other French speaker in the squad
and that although he wants to be playing first team football, he is
willing to wait his chance, playing behind the solid keeping of Kasey
Keller.
Former
Spurs defender Dean Austin looks likely to become the first victim of
Crystal palace's cost cutting exercise, by having his contract
terminated. The player is said to be willing to do so to
"progress his opportunities elsewhere."
