   The Daily Star report that Tottenham are poised to go for £2.5 million rated 17-year-old French midfielder Adel Taarabt, as reported elsewhere two days ago.  West Bromwich Albion's central defender Curtis Davies is the target for Tottenham, who will offer £8 million in January according to the Daily Mirror.  Spurs may be interested in Real Madrid's 26 year old central defender Francisco Pavon, who will be sold in January,
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -
Ledley King is expected to be fit for the game against Arsenal on Saturday even though he has been suffering with a virus all week, but Jermaine Jenas will return to the squad after his calf injury.  Hossam Ghaly serves the second game of his three game suspension.  Paul Stalteri (knee), Anthony Gardner (both knee) and Mido (groin) will all miss the game too.

   CRIMEWATCH ... Chelsea captain John Terry is to be charged with improper conduct for making comments about referee Graham Poll which have questioned his integrity in the game against Spurs.  It is thought that his story that Poll said that "Chelsea need to be taught a lesson" has not been backed up and the referee has been cleared of making such inappropriate remarks.

   Martin Jol has insisted that Jermain Defoe is not going anywhere in the January transfer window following rumours of Manchester United's interest in the striker.  The Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool will challenge Man U for the non-singing of Defoe, throwing Craig Bellamy into the mix as bait for the Spurs man.  Tottenham are said by the Guardian to be showing interest in 28 year old Hertha Berlin creative midfielder Yildiray Basturk, who wants to  and the Express reckon Spurs are on the trail of Derby County wonder-kid Giles Barnes.

   Manchester United are being strongly linked with a £12 million January move for striker Jermain Defoe.
   Reports in France claim that Spurs will sign
17-year-old RC Lens midfielder Abel Taarabt for €3.5 million.  The Moroccan youngster has been with the Lens youth academy since he was 11 and came from Septeme-les-Vallons, the club Zinedine Zidane used to play for..
  
Spurs' Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov is not concerned that the fans do not sing his name - because he says it's too much of a tongue-twister. "It's probably because my name is too difficult for them to fit into a song," said Berbatov. "Even when I played for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, the fans did not have a song for me."   How about "He scores Berby goals, In his Berby World", etc ??

   Spurs have agreed a deal to bring 19 year old Sunderland goalkeeper Ben Alnwick to White Hart Lane in January, with Marton Fulop's loan deal at the Stadium of Light being made permanent and a cash adjustment of £1 million also being paid, according to a number of reputable internet sites.
   Mido has torn his groin and will be out of action for two weeks.

   The Sunday Mirror reckons that Spurs are set to swap Jermain Defoe for Liverpool's Welsh international striker Craig Bellamy.  However, if you believe the News of the World, the club are also looking to sign Bayern Munich's 6'8" 24 year old forward Stefan Maierhofer for £2 million.  The player is said to be flattered about Tottenham's interest and confirmed he will leave in the summer when his contract is up.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Jermaine Jenas is still ruled out with his calf injury, but having played in Germany on Thursday, Aaron Lennon, Pascal Chimbonda and Teemu Tainio should all be in contention again.  Anthony Gardner (knee) and Paul Stalteri (knee) are still out injured, while Hossam Ghaly is suspended (first of three games).

   The rumour mill is gathering pace and Martin O'Neill is believed to be ready to spend £7 million to get Jermain Defoe in at Villa Park in January.
   Sky Sports website is claiming that Sunderland have made an emergency loan move for goalkeeper Marton Fulop until January.

   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Aaron Lennon will have a late fitness test before the UEFA Cup game in Germany tomorrow.  Pascal Chimbonda is over his knee knack and will join Lennon in proving his fitness, but Jermaine Jenas isn't recovered from his calf muscle injury, nor Paul Stalteri from his knee injury.  Calum Davenport and Teemu Tainio are both in the squad after operations.
   Former Spurs Reserve central defender Clayton Fortune has joined Port Vale on loan from Leyton Orient until January.

   Both Tugay and Hossam Ghaly failed in their appeals against the red cards they received in the match on Sunday at Ewood Park, so both will face bans, with Ghaly out for three matches.
   Channel Five will show the Bayer Leverkusen game live on their website on Thursday night from 7.25 p.m. as a pay per view event.  Highlights will be shown on their television channel at 11.00 p.m.
   The Daily Mirror reckons that Aston Villa will be seeking to replace Milan Baros with Robbie Keane in the January transfer window.

   Martin Jol was not actually shown the red card by referee Phil Dowd at yesterday's match against Blackburn Rovers.  Apparently, he was asked to stand back from the touchline, but was not actually dismissed.  Meanwhile, Spurs will be appealing against the sending off of Hossam Ghaly, as Blackburn will about the expulsion of Tugay.  The appeals will be heard at the FA tomorrow.
   Spurs are being linked with a move for the much sought after Nigerian striker
Chinedu Ogbuke (known as 'Edu'), who plays his football at Norwegian club Lyn.  His talent has come to the attention of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool, with Locomotive Moscow being very keen on the forward.  However, his agent is believed to be in London with his client and the Premiership is thought to be the 20 year old player's preference as a final destination.
   Spurs Reserves beat Aston Villa Reserves 3-2at Broadhall Way this evening, with goals from Simon Dawkins and two from Teemu Tainio.

   The Daily Express reports that Kanu wants to leave Portsmouth to return to his former club Ajax, taking Edgar Davids with him so that they can have ! a beautiful time together."  So why would Davids follow Kanu ??
   Channel 5 have announced that they will show highlights of the UEFA Cup Group B match at Bayer Leverkusen at 11.00 p.m. on Thursday 27th November.
   The Under-18s have been drawn away to either York City or Chester City in the FA Youth Cup Third Round to be played on December 16th.

   Tottenham's game at White Hart Lane against Manchester United has been picked by Sky TV for coverage and will now take place on Sunday 4th February instead of Saturday 3rd February.  The kick off will be 4.00 p.m.
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -
Jermaine Jenas (calf muscle) is out, joining Pascal Chimbonda (knee), Anthony Gardner (knee), Paul Stalteri (knee) and Calum Davenport (groin), while Aaron Lennon (knee) is doubtful for Sunday's trip to Blackburn Rovers for the Premier League match. However, Teemu Tainio is back in training after his hernia operation and could be in the squad.
   BLACKBURN ROVERS TEAM NEWS : - Robbie Savage hopes to return after a thigh injury and Lucas Neill will miss the game having suffered a hamstring injury.  Morten Gamst Pedersen will also miss the game having sustained a rib injury and with
Zurab Khizanishvili missing on a one-match suspension, it could leave the way open for a recall for Stephane Hanchoz, who returned to the club in the summer from Wigan Athletic.  Jason Roberts (broken foot), Stephen Reid (back) and Ryan Nelsen (hamstring) will all miss out on the game.
   This weekend's Academy games away to Cardiff City have been postponed because of water-logged pitches in the South Wales area.

   Despite the Olympic Delivery Authority stating that any football club wishing to take residency in the Olympic Stadium after the 2012 Games should hurry up to inform them of their interest, neither West Ham United and Spurs have followed up their initial talks with the organisation.  This could be because there will be a stipulation that the track and field facilities will remain at the stadium and thus any football pitch will be removed from the crowd.
   Reserve defender Charlie Lee has gone on a month's loan to Millwall.

   After long being linked with 19 year old Olympique Lyonnais left winger Hatem Ben Arfa, the player has signed a new contract with his club to keep him there until 2010.
   Spurs will host Southend United in the League Cup quarter finals at White Hart Lane on Wednesday 20th December with the kick off being set for 8.00 p.m.
   Paul Robinson played the whole of England's with Holland in Amsterdam, while Jermain Defoe and Michael Dawson were on the bench.
   Didier Zokora played the second half in the Ivory Coast's 1-0 win over Sweden today in a friendly at Le Mans, France.
   Captain Robbie Keane scored a hat trick (one a penalty) in the Republic of Ireland's 5-0 win over San Marino in a Euro 2008 qualifier.
   Dimitar Berbatov captained his country in Bulgaria's 1-3 defeat by Slovakia in a friendly.
   Hossam Ghaly featured for Egypt in their against South Africa at Brentford tonight, playing 61 minutes of the 1-0 win.
   Marton Fulop was an unused substitute as Hungary beat Canada 1-0 in a Budapest friendly.
   Reto Ziegler played in Switzerland Under- 21s 4-1 friendly win over Slovenia.

   Spurs Reserves beat RC Lens in a friendly in Avion, France 3-2 this afternoon.  The Tottenham goals came from Andy Barcham, Simon Dawkins and Tomas Pekhart.
   England Under-21s beat their Dutch counterparts 1-0 in Alkmaar tonight with Tom Huddlestone, who captained the team and Wayne Routledge, who played 78 minutes, featuring for the England side.
   David Button took the gloves for the first half of the England Under-19s 3-2 win over Switzerland at Crewe tonight.
   Kieran McKenna received two yellow cards and was thus sent off with 72 minutes gone of Northern Ireland's Under-21 1-2 loss to Germany tonight.
   Both Spurs and Manchester United are linked with a move for Lens right back Yohan Demont.  The 28 year old has been watched by both club's scouts and he is able to play in midfield and in attack too.

   Ledley King has pulled out of the England squad for Wednesday's friendly with Holland with a knock on his knee injury.  Injuries to two other Spurs players mean that the captain has been joined by Aaron Lennon (knee) and Jermaine Jenas (calf muscle tear, which will keep him out for a couple of weeks).

   Tottenham lost 1-3 to Reading at the Madjeski Stadium this afternoon.  For a match report, click here.  Reaction to follow.
   Spurs are reported in the Sunday Mirror to be mounting a multi-million deal to bring Real Madrid's David Beckham to White Hart Lane in the summer, although Martin Jol is reported as saying in the Star on Sunday that "Beckham is a non-runner" because Tottenham already have Aaron Lennon.  Meanwhile, a solution to the left wing problem might come in the shape of
FC Koln's  teenage Morocco international Adil Chihi.  The Mirror and News of the World both claim that Edgar Davids is to honour his Spurs contract, even though the lack of first team opportunities is frustrating him.  The People reckon that Spurs, along with West Ham United and Everton, are watching Manchester United midfielder Kieran Richardson, who Alex Ferguson feels is not making the progress expected of him.
   Sven Goran Eriksson has told the media that he decided to leave Jermain Defoe behind and take Theo Walcott to the World Cup finals because the Spurs striker had a "very bad season."  That is his opinion, but at least it was in the Premier League.

   Tottenham have been handed a home quarter-final tie against Southend United, who beat Manchester United in the Fourth round.  The game will take place in the week starting December 18th.
   The Times runs a story claiming that Tottenham have agreed terms to sign 23 year old Brazilian Leonardo Vitor Santiago from NAC Breda in January.  The Sun reckons that Martin Jol is also looking for a centre half in the January sales as cover for Ledley King, indicating that some of the other central defenders at the club might not be required.
   On a lighter note, the Daily Star reports that a poll among football fans has put Steve Coppell as the weediest manager in the league, with our own BMJ as the toughest in the Premiership.
   Tottenham's Academy side had a 1-1 draw with Leicester City in the FA Premier Academy League this morning at Spurs Lodge.

   A variety of sources this morning claim that Spurs have beaten Wigan Athletic and Arsenal to the signing of Brazilian left winger Leonardo Vitor Santiago, although his club NAS Breda, have said that the rumours are untrue and the 23 year old will not be leaving in January.
   Spurs have six players among the 22 man England squad named by Steve McClaren for the friendly international, with Holland next week.  Paul Robinson, Ledley King, Michael Dawson, Aaron Lennon, Jermaine Jenas and Jermain Defoe are all available for selection should the England coach see fit to pick them.
   Tom Huddlestone is Tottenham's sole representative in the England Under-21 squad for their friendly against Holland on Tuesday.
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -
Knee problems for Pascal Chimbonda and Mido will keep them out of Sunday's game at Reading, along with Teemu Tainio (hernia), Calum Davenport (groin), Anthony Gardner (ankle) and Paul Stalteri (knee), although Steed Malbranque and Hossam Ghaly will be fit to play.
   READING TEAM NEWS : -
Captain Graeme Murty, who has been out for four games with a hamstring problem, is expected to be fit for Sunday's match, but the Royals will be without Bobby Convey (knee), Dave Kitson (knee), Peter Mate (knee), Aaron Brown (ankle) and Simon Cox (broken leg).
   Tottenham have announced that the reserve side will travel to France to play a friendly against RC Lens on Tuesday, 14th November with a 3.00 p.m. kick off.

   Defender Phil Ifil has extended his contract with Tottenham.
   Reserve defender/midfielder Emil Hallfredsson, who has been on loan at Swedish club Malmo, has told the press in Sweden that he will return to White Hart Lane to fight for a place in the squad.

Croatia have been fined over £21,000 for serious lack of organisation at the same match ...    John Terry's red card saved Chelsea a fine for the number of bookings they received in Sunday's match.  His two yellows will just count as one red, thus reducing the amount of yellows among the rest of his team to five and this falls short of punishment by the FA.

   Jermaine Jenas has told the Sun that he has advised Aaron Lennon to stay at Spurs, because he believes that the team are on the verge of making the breakthrough of winning trophies.  The England midfielder has urged the little winger to turn down the advances of other clubs, Chelsea included, to stay with the improving Spurs side.  Meanwhile Benoit Assou-Ekotto has been telling of the lack of effort by Lens to keep him.  He said that the French club do not seem to try to keep players they have brought through the ranks, while the opposite is true in England.
   Make sure you get to the ground early to pick up any tickets you may have to collect at the Port Vale game tomorrow night, as there could be some long queues.
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Steed Malbranque will start  for the first time against Port Vale in the League Cup tomorrow night.  Spurs will field
Michael Dawson, but his partner may well be summer signing Dorian Dervite. The French youngster will play as the other central defenders will be missing ... Ledley King (rested), Pascal Chimbonda (knee), Paul Stalteri (knee), Calum Davenport (groin) and Anthony Gardner (knee) This will give Young-Pyo Lee an opportunity to play, but Teemu Tainio is not yet match fit after his hernia operation, so Charlie Lee, Andy Barcham and Phil Ifil are added to the squad.
   PORT VALE TEAM NEWS : -  Port Vale forward Nathan Lowndes has a back injury, while midfielder Robin Hulbert's foot injury make both players doubtful for the League Cup tie, but defender Mark McGregor could return to the starting line-up, with Michael Husbands and Luke Prosser pressing to join him.

   Chelsea are reported to have made Aaron Lennon their number one transfer target for January and are said to be considering a cash plus Shaun Wright-Phillips offer for the little Spurs winger coming to around £20 million.  In a move obviously designed to unsettle the Spurs winger before tomorrow's match, you wonder how the valuation for Lennon was calculated if SWP was worth £21 million two years ago.  The report in the Times reckons that the Pensioners are more confident of getting him to sign for them in the summer transfer window.
   Spurs Under-18s won 4-1 away to Birmingham City Under-18s today with a Tomas Pekhart hat-trick and the other goal coming from Jake Livermore.

   Sky Sports website reports that Samir Nasri of Marseille claims that Spurs and Manchester City are keen on bringing him to England.  the 19 year old winger says he is happy to stay with the French Ligue 1 club, but has been tracked by the two English sides. 
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM ENWS : - Michael Dawson has a sore hip from a knock picked up against Club Brugge, but should be fit, while Young-Pyo Lee is nearing fitness, but not yet match fit, with Paul Stalteri's knee, Steed Malbranque's and Teemu Tanino's hernias sideline them.  Calum Davenport had an operation on his groin earlier this week and will be out for a fortnight and Lee Barnard's foot injury keeps him out.

   Spurs have completed the signing (subject to a medical) of much sought after Norwegian youngster Dag Alexander Olsen.  The 17 year old SK Gjovik-Lyn striker was wanted by Barcelona, Chelsea and Bayern Munich, but after a successful trial at Spurs, signed for a fee believed to be in the region of £80,000.
   Calum Davenport may need to go to Germany for an operation on his groin injury.
   TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS : -  Spurs will be without
Paul Stalteri (knee), Teemu Tainio (hernia/foot), Lee Young-Pyo (ankle), Calum Davenport (groin) and Steed Malbranque (groin), but Didier Zokora is back in the squad after his bout of malaria.
